Is there really no other color we can have to differentiate these from one another? If a socketed ethereal item drops it should be the socketed color to follow how it works when an ethereal unique drops.
I say leave socketed grey and color ethereal something new.
Iām a largely ākeep it the sameā person. But I would be all for a loot filter. Iāve gotten old, and the grey (ethereals, socketed) is just real hard for me to see clearly. And, well, filter is filter. I really donāt see how it changes anything.
So what colour would it be if its socketed AND etherial. Devils advocate hereā¦but if they tried to colour code every type the floor would end up lookibg like a shiny rainbow mess.
Purple is a good idea, itās relatively dark and discreet and itās absolutely unnecessary but I would imagine easily implemented and as someone else mentioned, itās very annoying to be searching for a socketed item for runewords and to keep checking ethereals.
Also while I think about it, socketed items could have a number next to their name like, āfull helm (2)ā
but yes, purple or pink could be noticeably different colors for ethereal items. Or they could be cyan like in D3. Or, just back⦠or maroon? Thereās a million options.
I think they should adjust the ethereal vs socket color. Further, I think socketed items should have a deeper color or shade depending on how many sockets it has.
Yes, however if you start using different shades of the same color some people will have trouble telling them apart, so bright purple or pink would really be the only option if the goal is for it to be distinct. Teal / cyan might work as well, but Iām less sure on that one.
Those from loot filter mods are very creative
Charms in red color
Gems has a special symbol in front, indicating gem level (can be 1-5 for chipped tp perfect, and the numbers are colored accordingly)
Names of potions and misc items should be shortened, such as HP1-5, MP1-5, and so on
Runes should have a number in bracket e.g. Lem (20)
And many more
Maybe they are colorblind. I thought the same thing though. Like thereās so many shades and hues. I thought the same thing about the colors though for loot. POE has a nice loot filter thatās third party. It would be nice to have a customizable integrated loot filter. Things like this have me scratching my head. A third party vendor with barely any resources such as the loot filter or some of these small game developers make āfresherā and better content in my opinion at times.
Hmm, its really not 3rd party⦠so to say. Or i guess i just think that sounds bad when used with POE and the loot filter setup. You can script it yourself. The game houses the built in reader. the only thing you are really getting from a 3rd party is the script, so you dont have to write one.
Yeah I suppose youāre right about that. It is just a script you can edit isnāt it. So POE has the built in loot filter that many people outsource scripts for it seems like. Either way itās a good addition to the games features in my opinion. I donāt mind the colors like they are but there should be a way to tell the difference between ethereal and socketed loots.
They arent even hard to write. But, if you want to see a cool loot filter, that is user friendly, and you do not need to write anything for, or use 3rd party⦠check out Last Epoch. Pretty slick.
I think it would be cool to see developments such as a loot filter integration rather then seasonal ladder wipes with balances repeated for ten years. But thatās my opinion.
Customization would be nice, definitely. After playing WoW since Vanilla it felt weird to come back to D2 and see itās very different rarity scheme again. If it was customizable Iād probably take inspiration from WoW and do:
Normal = Grey
Socketed = White
Magic = Green
Rare = Blue
Set = Purple
Unique = Orange
Rune = Tan
Ethereal = [Eth] tag
using those colors would clash with 20 years of memory. letās stick to Diablo colors.
White = Normal
Blue = Magic
Yellow = Rare
Green = Set
Gold = Unique / Legendary
Only problematic color is Gray because it means two things: Socketed Normal or Ethereal Normal.
***but I like your tag idea. Maybe instead of a new color, they can just say [Soc] and [Eth] before the name.
