Best guess it comes out before the 50th anniversary, maybe.
It wouldn’t be much of a surprise if everyone knew about it. Just count on it being nothing, and it will be impossible for you to be disappointed.
In my opinion, if they really cared enough about the 25th anniversary of Diablo 2, they would have had something ready to go on the date of the anniversary.

TLDR:
They got reminded that Diablo 2 was hitting 25years when it actually hit 25years and people were hyping
Then people started to wonder why blizzard was silent about it… because they forgot/didn’t care
So seeing how dumb they looked they decided to make up that they were working on something about it
So don’t expect something big since it’s only been worked on for a month

I hardly believe that. But Blizzard can always surprise me with weird stuff, time and time again. So I wouldn’t think that scenario is too impossible.
Big patch with updated skills/items, new Uber quest and +3 new quests and areas for Act4 is less than two weeks for rdm modder.
I just want them to open the game up for full moddability. Just let people do what they can’t or don’t want to do. They don’t want to improve the game? Fine! Don’t. But don’t prevent other from doing that.

It’s less about stupidity, and more about them not having (or be barred from having) the level of passion to invest the time and resources needed to rework the Martial Arts tree which wouldn’t have invalidated every Assassin claw in the game… So their one and done dirty quick fix Mosaic was born to make Martial Arts viable with other top performing builds in the game… And then they doubled it, and doubled it again, and again… etc.
They have shareholders to think about… The time and resources needed for passion projects are hard to put a finger on when it comes to that bottom line.
There’s also the fact that anything they do with the game will be wrong in at least part of the player base.

Its another patch and cosmetics for Diablo 4.
Nothing happening in D2R. They don’t want to make changes. Because the guy whose gonna reply to me says the game is fine as is. If the player base added another zero to its MAUs or population count at the start of season, maybe they’d do something. Once again, tho, the person who replies to me likely wouldn’t like whatever it is they do because it would be just “MORE MORE MORE!”
If you mean what might come from the convention in Sydney? Likely nothing. From what I’ve heard from those that went (yeah yeah, I know, NDA, but people talk) it wasn’t much. So, don’t get your hopes up. It was pretty generic corporate stuff. Just some information gathering. Sadly, things that people there wanted to see would also piss the guy who replies to me off.
Time for metash1tfosis and sh1tsaic mechanics could be better spend eg to buff melee or other skills like FireWall FOrb Meteor FireDroot EleAmazon and etc or fixing synergies, MA just needed strongly buffed ctc skills and longer timers.
I said this before… we had a chance to buff melee in beta Hustle by +1 to BoS instead of sh1tty fana and ctc, but ppl were againt it lol.
Game is in terriBAD state atm

never forget this guy was lead of “Team Summercamp” which literally did nothing for an entire year. this led to Blizzard scrapping both D3: The King of the North and Project Hades, which was cancelled and eventually restarted and rushed and gave us D4bad.

But, wouldn’t their first foray be Diablo I? Obviously the anniversary is for D2 and they explicitly mention D2, but it’s not their first foray…
Meh I’ve spent way too much time thinking about this when I’m sure the “chaos they’ve yet to unleash” is just future D4 or other Diablo IP but not D2 things.
