The feature you’ve been working hard on and hoped the community would love has, for the most part, been disliked by a majority of the community. I also don’t see a reason for it.
Question is do you still release it? Or do you fiddle with it, pushing back Season 2 even further until we cave in and say we like it?
I’ll be blunt for a moment. Terror Zones is a terrible idea. If you wanted to appeal to the community, you would have added more QoL to the patch. (Rune stacking, bigger stash, etc).
Here’s a few ideas for TZ’s:
More frequency and more zones at once. Every 20 minutes?
Make the zones respawn all monsters and increase monster density.
Add a zone boss or more bosses.
Add a zone modifier (ex. All zone enemies are very fast).
Increase the size of the notification about the TZs. Big font, top middle screen.
If all 5 of these were introduced, I would be 100% on board for the Terror Zone Train.
Terror zones are a good idea. The only problem is it makes hammerdin even MORE OP as a farmer, since he is now the only one able to fully take advantage of them (no immunities). Other S tier classes will be relegated to lvl87 zones they can handle if the current terror zone is full of immunities they can’t deal with.
Hammerdin HAS to be nerfed. There is no way around it now.
I don’t dislike it. I think people just want different builds to actually work better. You will see that bowazons, melee druids, summon druids and poison bone necros were not even included on the test realm. The reason? They suck. The current metas are ruling and are getting nothing but buffed by these new zones. Conviction and teleport rule the game and are locked behind high runes.
omg Terror zones where again 1 player is pushed and the other 7 just fill. 99 can be done in 2 days. Again no Teamplay to 99. This will suck the ladder board, they obviously dont want us to play this game, and buy another one… Thanks a lot!
And still no major bug fixes… wave 2 bug, chat, lobbies…
I like Terror zone idea. I think most players do.
But I think it should be worked upon during the PTR time.
Difficulty should be bumped up. It must be hard in Terror zones.
Hammerdin Concentration aura must not work with hammers. No way they will just ignore this and let it spiral out of control patch after patch after patch.
I’m what you would call a “rabid purist” at least labeled as such. I don’t mind these changes, invasions are better than “rifts”. Seems to spice up the farming without breaking the game.
I also didn’t mean to use purist in a negative way. I know some purism is good and respectable, but the die hard purists like Big Jay or Tuzz will immediately dislike the sound of this idea. I think most people will end up opening up to it, especially if the devs can make the most out of it.
It makes the game dynamic, instead of as static as it is. The only truly dynamic event in D2R I can think of is that rare occurrence of Diablo invading Sanctuary. Without Blizzards patch to that, I don’t think I’d ever see it.
No matter what they do/did you guys would still cry about it. I think their next big move should be to ban chronic whiners from the forums. It’d be nice to just read what people like about the changes, for once, without sorting through a 1000 piles of sh!t to get there.
