So what is new in the ladder?

Straight up…cars are really the perfect analogy to video games, especially when it comes to EOL support, very similar with how they cut the cord along with moving onto new generations of products. They keep producing some parts so owners can continue to enjoy their vehicles for a reasonable amount of time after the production run has ended much like how online games go into maintenance mode to keep everything running a reasonable amount of time beyond the initial hype, neither type of company will be willing to continue updating and adding to this when their current biggest sellers and money makers are what needs most attention because engineers and developers are finite and stretched thin as it is…

The car analogy really is perfect. Earlier cars were more raw, you had to do more on your own such as manual transmissions, they were generally lighter and better to drive spiritedly but over the many generations then they made them easier to drive such as through the prevelance of automatic transmissions (now electric cars), much safer and more efficient but at what cost, they became heavier and more unwieldy… All these aspects have a direct connection with video games especially if we look at d2 vs later diablo games, newer ones are more accessible for a larger range of players but at a cost of alienating the folks that loved the originals. They can’t win them all, no one can especially in business you take the biggest wins. Really the ultimate solution for blizz is to provide full access to modding and private servers but we know that would never happen.
