He was trying to get his first ever torch without trading for it, and wanted to do uber tristram, I told him I would do it with my budget smiter… but he kiilled Nithilak 32 times and a key never dropped, he said he’s never playing this game again lol
Well, what does he want? Maybe Diablo 3 is more of his taste. There you get everything you want within 2 weeks.
You should have been honest with him before luring him to the game.
Not everybody likes this kind of grind.
You mean in a day or so.
He’s a weakling. I had a drought of 96 runs to countess without a key.
But she gave me 2 MALs, which was nice.
I see this as your failure. You didnt teach him that you should not target monsters just for one item.
This is very common, people don’t want to be bots for a dead game. Makes sense.
Blizzard needs to fix this in upcoming patches!
how many players?
countess more likely to drop keys in p8 and more likely to drop bonus rune in p1
also as above, RNG is. this last time around i did countess maybe 25 times before getting bored and nabbed Mal, Ist, Key.
No he didnt teach him how probability works
Did he… did he do 32 runs in a day or something?
Has he played any other game? Maybe like an MMO? Did he ever have to wait a month for his armor to drop only to lose the roll or priority to an officer despite having DKP? Has he ever played any looter where a million versions of the same unique can drop with vastly different and mostly useless affixes? Has he ever farmed a mob drop or aimed to collect a mount from a rare spawn that’s also being hunted by 500 other people on the same server? Or does he enjoy using dual analog sticks to shoot people in the face with aim assist for hours on end? Or maybe kick a ball around a flat field and pay for “leet” players with a credit card?
Not to put your friend down, but if the game created an itch, he’ll be back. If not, then he wants microwave entertainment, not oven baked.
Edit: Also tell your friend to stay far, far, far away from mobile phone gacha games. Always amazes me, people will whine about drop rates in this game, and go log on their mobile games which are, unlike D2R, financially incentivized to keep you logged in and/or looking at their store page for as long as psychologically possible.
This is important ingame and even IRL, because where RNG may be dull in one aspect it is potentially shining in another. Keep sifting opportunity everywhere.
to be fair, everyone here was basically full geared in about 2 weeks too
If the rate is 1 in 14 , there is a 9.3% chance of doing 32 runs and coming up empty, which means that for every 11 players grinding Nihlathak, one will have this happen.
If the rate is 1 in 12, the likelihood of being shut out 32 times in a row is 6.2%, which will afflict one of every 16 players…
Not worth quitting. The runs of good luck will come, too. Everyone who runs Nihlathak has had those times when they got 4 keys in 7 runs, or something like it…
stop invading posts with your " I WANT BERS TO DROP FROM THE SKY" talk… drops on D2r suck! thats why we play it! leave it be ! you have ur changes… go play single player an hero edit ur self some runes and hid them around to find them…
I managed to acquire 5 sets of keys in about 2 days and that is without farming keys constantly, you just have to be consistent, in one of the runs I was super lucky got a key off countess and nilithak in the same game. Yes in can be frustrating when you do 30+ runs without a key but then you might get two in a row, RNG. Good hunting!
oh my god
that’s like 23 minutes worth of farming and no key?
what a crime
My worst drought on N was 25 runs with no key.
With the SUMMONER though god he is stingy my worst drought was 42, 45, 49 and more. Many times had to wait 40+ runs for the next key.
My friend loves the game and said he’d never quit because of its perfect drop rates.
The old
“It didn’t happen to me but a friend of mine”
LMAO
I’m going to use a non-provable source to get my opinion out there without putting my name to it.
Thanks for the laugh
What are your pronouns?
Friend is normal human, he wants to enjoy a video game and not get a part-time job in which his pay isn’t even certain (could play and never find a good item).
Yeah that guy hates giving me keys! Oh well, lots of ghost killing opportunities on the way. Still poor enough that I was happy to find a Pul off ghosts on the way to him the other night lol.
