and i was watching this guide video on how to make one, but i just cant get over the fact that Spirit shield is the only option. Is there really nothing else? Is something like Obsession really that bad? Mang Song’s or Ondall’s Wisdom? Wizard Spike Stormshield? Do none of these beat Spirit?
TBH I prefer Phoenix. Opens up merc to reduce physical resist.
what do you pair it with?
Ideally +2/20 fcr/all rez circle/coronet, +2/20% fcr/all rest ammy, nigma, hoto, chancies, wartraves, arachnids, 2x soj or bk. Act 2 with reapers toll, or act 5 with lawbringer. All rez charms to fix resists.
Realistically prob have to swap in magefist, or a 10% fcr ring if you don’t have the rare/crafted. And might have to drop a skiller for more rest charms (or skimp cold/poison a bit)
Less raw power, but overall more versatile in where it can farm.
i just found an amazing 3ele/20fcr all res life diadem but it dawned on me that even though it rolled godly, it’s not a pelt, and a 5 skiller pelt with similar stats would be better right? why isnt the player in the video using a pelt? do pelts not come with fcr?
AFAIK they don’t. Could be wrong though.
TBH the biggest issue with Wind druid in D2R… is that fire druid is better. (Not that lots of things aren’t better than Fire Druid.)
I’ve messed around on a varient of the above for a bit (respected from fire) felt better than with spirit… but still just not as good as fire. Decrep on merc really does help it though… unless you wanna just tele past every single phys immune. And honestly… it’s either redemption aura from phoenix, or an insight… or mana feels bad.
Redemption also has that bonus of making Throne/Nil way less annoying.
Personal pref a bit in there, but my god I hate chugging mana pots. Rather keep a full bar of full rejuvs lol. Also braindead tanky with redemption.
Guess it depends on what you want to do what option you have, but don’t think you a real wind druid can do better than HotO / Spirit.
The Phoenix option is nice as it help with the mana issue
If you just want high Hurricane Earth Shifter works, but that is ofcourse hurting your survivability and Tornado damage and is far from optimal.
If you just want to do something funny and different with wind skills you could go for a proc build, like Werewolf Windhammer/Stormlash with Fury and maxing the proc’s syns).
Pelt cannot roll FCR.
They really need to lessen the synergies of hurricane to make more options.
Stormshield socketed with a shael rune and max block can be great. Not only does it provide massive damage reduction and some resists, socketing a shael rune puts him at the 6 frame faster block rate breakpoint, which is the same as having 86 FHR. Between blocking, 35%+ phys dmg reduction, and Cyclone Armor, you become quite tanky.

although all of these seem like good options, i think the person who made that guide video picked the best options and seem to know exactly what they are doing. probably a professional d2 player tbqh, it’s almost flawless if you ask me. very expensive build but i guess you get what you pay for.
We’ve been arguing with someone who has no clue about wind druids even 20 years later. Lmao and bravata tries to claim they found a
Straight up liar. Any half decent player knows rares cannot spawn +3 skills tab, it is a strictly magic/blue only affix.
if it’s +2 then that’s even worse, a pelt would be way better option unless you were forcing fcr to reach insane breakpoint. Why not just put Bulwark into a 5 nado pelt instead, seems silly not to.
You said you found it, wth… Think you have some major problems outside of video games. Good luck
i just had two $2000 RTX 4090s melt because diablo 4 beta was poorly optimized and blizzard said it was the manufacturers fault. SO YAH I HAVE MAJOR PROBLEMS OUTSIDE OF VIDEO GAMES.

And honestly… it’s either redemption aura from phoenix, or an insight… or mana feels bad.
I’ve found that Solar Creeper is actually really good at recovering mana; was surprised, but it really works. That allowed my merc to grab Reaper’s Toll, and my kill speed increased drastically.
Bulwark can only have up to 3 of any druid skill as you can only make runewords in socketable white items.

And honestly… it’s either redemption aura from phoenix, or an insight… or mana feels bad.
I was messing around with Metal Grid on my single player wind druid:
- Reapers Toll+Prayer Merc
- Insight Iron Golem
he was surviving well enough with teleport and the merc’s prayer aura. You can also add flickering flame to the merc to fix everyone’s fire resists, especially the IG’s. One of the very few times I’ve found a really meaningful use for the Metal Grid change
Problem with this game is that every other class is just a bad sorc:
Built in %mana reg -check
Built in Teleport -check
Owns in budget gear -check
Best/least clunky (aoe) dps -check
Literally /godmode on with ES -check
The ‘‘gameplay’’ (aka. press 2 and a half buttons no matter the class) doesn’t justify playing anything over a sorc other than if you really want to be a tryhard for nothing.
Meanwhile they’d still only need to copy over PD2 changes to make this game 1000% better than it is now.
Umm not really. I’d put both Barb and Pally ahead of Sorc. Maybe assassins now (haven’t played around with Mosaic so no real comment there.)
Barb is still by far the best rune farmer, and doesn’t need much gear for it. (Can’t stand the play style, but hey, no one can really argue they aren’t the best money makers.) Pally can do everything Sorc can, some things before, some a little after. Also better for short runs due tot own travel speed with vigor.
ES builds are pointless in PvE. Nothing can kill you in this game anyway.
It’s not like Javazons are bad either. I do think Necro/Druids are a bit slower at everything though. Necros still pretty solid in cows, though nothing others can’t do… and Fire Druid honestly ain’t half bad now. 100% agree that Fire/Wind Druids are mostly “bad Sorc’s” though.

Meanwhile they’d still only need to copy over PD2 changes
to you maybe, i don’t think i even beat normal in pd2 because it was so cringe.
