There’s two NEW cosmetics being added for Diablo III’s new season (a portrait frame and a treasure goblin pet). Any chance of Blizzard adding something for D2R? New rune words and some balancing issues seem like they’d be easier to implement than new models.
Chances are both the portrait frame and the goblin were floating around their art assets pool. Even if they weren’t, it’d be ridiculously easy to create both using the assets they already have.
Honestly with the Mosaic runeword blunder, I don’t really trust Blizzard to create more runewords. It was a path they should have instead went the more difficult route and reworked the Martial Arts skill branch to make it more useful with various different gears instead of a one-trick-pony runeword.

Blizz will get around to it eventually. D4 & Immortal still requires all of their devs. D3 getting updates 10+ years after release, while albeit very minimal, should be good evidence we will get something one day.

Different ppl working on different things. And no, new runewords and such arent easier to implement. The purists cry about anything here so adding a new runeword would make them seizure again.
That’s a little generalized. I don’t see anybody crying about Mist, Wisdom, Flickering Flame…
