Smiter Advice needed

Hi All,

New to the Paladin game and looking for advice.
I just finished Hell w my Smiter - goal I think is to do Ubers.
I have max Smite, Holy Shield and Fanaticism

At this point I have 23 unused skill points and about 50-60 unused attribute points

My equipment is ok, not great. Have a lower end Grief
Duress / Spirit Shield - a Life Tap wand on switch

Merc is only ok - he has Obedience, Crown of Thieves and Treachery

Question - I barely have enough rune collateral to make an Exile Shield and a CTA.
My base for Exile is an Eth Sacred Rondach (225 def / 38 AR) - self found.

Is it worth it to basically spend everything I have to get Exile and take a chance on not getting a crap CTA?
Secondarily - Is that base “Exile-worthy” or am I screwing up.

My real main goal was to, like most people, make Enigma - but after weeks and weeks and weeks - probably not happening.

Appreciate any thoughts

Some people prefer to maximize the resist on the eth exile since you are spending some good runes but it may be hard to find the perfect shield depending on how rich you are lol

In my personal opinion, the 38 ar is good enough, the shield Sacred Rond is good, if you don’t mind the ar being 38 then go ahead. That being said, if you have a good base for spirit, then you don’t NEED to make exile and you should still be able to smite ubers since you have a life tab wand. You could also try to get dracs gloves, i don’t think they are expensive to buy anymore

On the CTA - if you feel like your life is low then maybe it is worth it to invest in one and roll the dice. If you have a lot of plus skills then your BO should be pretty decent.

It’s always trade off. With pure smiter I don’t think you need Exile THAT bad :wink: but you do need tones of HP (just in case) overstack of resistance, absorb, lifetap, crushing blow and open wounds.
Duress itself (imo) not enough for CB you need add at least goblin toe or/and G-Face
As some already mention - drackuls will work nicely but why ppl still want to use Exile? Lifetap proc on shield free up you gloves slot for laying hands 50% FR 20% IAS and 350% damage to demons but choosing between CTA and Exile built - I’d go for CTA

Thanks Doom - I have Goblin Toe and G-Face as well.

I am frustrated having to weapon switch to cast lifetap - but its an expensive solution to make Exile - plus I do like Laying of Hands for the +350% to Demons.

I think I will give CTA a try - For a base- it’s something like a double axe so it’s low requirements and multiple chars can use it. Correct? It’s just to pump up your Life/Skillz…I will predict I will get 1 BO when I make this thing. Haha!

i have a rather low exile but the extra resistances are great, and i can do ubers with no problem. some people like using a HOZ. you dont need perfect gear to do ubers, some people are just min-max and will pay extra to get higher stats
