Today i thought i start a new SSF journey.
Then decided to start pre-expansion.
Does skill changes like hydra without delay also transfers to classic game?
What other skills gets benefit?
Are there synergies in classic if played in D2R ?
What do i lose by doing this?
What do i gain?
Is there a grail tracker which automatically add items to it even if i sell them afterwards?
Skill changes that can be taken over are taken over.
Yes there are synergies
You’re losing elite items, sets and uniques only for normal items, no runewords, no charms, no a5, no weapon switch, no char-bound item bases, no custom mercs, just 3 respecs, different alvls, no runes, alot less cube recipes, ww is not ias dependent, different hammerdin dmg calculation, dex independant block, -50 res penalty only, no druid, no assa, ama is total garbage, rares are top tier items, some affixes can’t spawn, no eth, no ubers
Some say the difficulty level is higher, but once you know what you’re doing i’d say no.
Teamplay is promoted as you can’t bo or tele on each character, many are using loaders though.
The game is immense fun like this, sadly classic never got any QoL features in d2r or any classic-only support or skill changes. Devs killed it, it’s empty.

Doesn`t sound like fun to me.
Will play once with paladin but i see no future for this.
It’s alot of fun if there are enough players. Ladder runs for the whole 4 months, you basically can’t get 99 in that time, at least nobody has ever done it legit.
The only real downside for classic is small build variety. Hammerdin, Blizzsorc, WW Barb, CE support nec and you’re done with the useful pvm builds.
It’s a shame classic isn’t a version of diablo 2 before the monster HP bloat and synergies. That would be very interesting to try.
It’s been like that for 21 years now. Why would they revert it to pre 2003?
I’m up for a 1.09 realm, but for LoD and Classic. Classic only wouldn’t make any sense.
Current version needs a few things to be fixed, a whole class is unplayable competitively. But not but this team, they don’t know anything. They can only give us QoL like a shared stash, the rest exceeds their skills.
It would make sense since Blizz always claimed that they wanted to preserve classic when they were asked about QoL, while every crappy change effected classic, but never any QoL like stash and no classic player ever was against a bigger stash, even back then.
They have preserved the version of classic that was being used since 2003. It’s hard to argue that 1.09 or lower is the “real” classic, it had alot of downsides aswell.
What defines classic is the absence of LoD features, which is the case for post 1.10 aswell
I agree about the QoL
The last classic patch was with 1.06 and the first official LoD patch started with 1.07.
1.07 to 1.09 didn’t kill the original experience, but 1.10 did. It destroyed the balance with changes to mobs/skills, because they needed to balance/change LoD. They also messed with rare stats and so on. So in my opinion. 1.06 is classic. 1.09 classicish and everything after 1.10 is no longer the classic experience I was used to.

1.06 classic, 1.09 classic, and 1.10+ classic all have their own appeal. 1.07-1.08 in general should never be looked at again. Though I would say the game was by far the most balanced in 1.09 in classic. You could argue zon is a bit OP but if she takes damage she dies. If you wanted D2R classic to be like any other version of D2 it would be a lot of work for the devs. Obviously, since D2R no longer makes Blizzard money, that isn’t going to happen. In terms of QOL, we were robbed of shared stash but we did get a few wins. The most notable is that they fixed the Diablo exp glitch (8 players in CS and in party when Diablo dies = 1 exp for each player).

If you can find some, good for you, but I can’t agree with 1.10.
Off the top of my head
The good:
Dins actually have a place in pvp
BVB is much more balanced with no life leech
Respecs added and iron maiden gone in cs as of 1.13
MUCH more generous drops/gambles. Pre 1.10 drops are brutal
Charge is much more fluent on Din
Diablo clone is a new unique challenge for classic players
No more light enchant/blizz on act 3 mages with multi-shot for cheap deaths
Dual leech rings can spawn again
Mana pots at vendors
1-88 is a LOT faster
The bad:
Hybrid sorc is really bad now because of synergies
Zon is a joke now
The adjustment to whirlwind didn’t take durability into account making certain weapon bases like lances almost unusable
Whirlwind taking AR heavily into account now basically makes the only viable build angelic rings + amulets
The exp penalty makes higher levels pretty much impossible for non-bots
The difficulty in pvm is just not there anymore. I know I mentioned multi-shot light enchant in the good but I consider those more cheapness than difficulty.
Cows taking a major nerf to exp and drops when they had no reason to in classic.
There’s probably more for both sides but that’s off the top of my head.

None of them are actually improvements in my view. Except the dual leech ring
Everything else is just worse in my opinion.
