Introduction
This will not cover how to level as trapsin. There are tons of guides out there to help with that. It will cover the setup I came across recently that I love playing. As everyone else I ran HOTO/Spirit for a bit and wanted to try dual claws.
HOTO/Spirit
The immediate benefit of HOTO and Spirit is the amount if FCR and resists you get from combo. Old school trapsins will frown upon you when they see you run a weapon/shield setup and not dual claws. But it’s good solid build that’ll get you started as trapsin.
With the right gear this can give you trap speed of 8 frames which is nice and fast. Feels smooth.
Dual Claws
This is the end game build you work towards as trapsin. But it’s NOT easy. The items you need for this are among the rarest in the game. You basically 2 greater talon claws with +3 to lightning sentry and +2 to assassin skills or +3 to traps. One of them must also have at least 30% IAS. And then you want 2 sockets form the quest. If you somehow manage to get your hands of this type of gear you’re looking at a trap laying speed of 6 frames per trap. This is just sick - but again. VERY rare.
Silence???
Yes! Silence. The runeword I mean. It gives +2 skills (not +3 like HOTO), IAS and 75! to all resists.
In a 6 socketed phase blade. The weapon peed speed modifier of a phase blade is -30. This means that that with a 21 point Burst of Speed will give you a trap speed of 7 frames. This is fast. And it’s smooth! And the IAS is on your weapon. This frees up your gloves for faster cast rate.
What does it all mean?
It means that you step between your dual claw build (which most people will never get the gear for) and the HOTO/spirit setup that is easily obtainable.
Trap speed: 7 frames (20 IAS and 21 Burst of Speed)
FCR: 10 frames (nice for teleport and mind blasts)
FHR: 4 frames (had to use a FHR charm)
Over capped resists the offset that lower resist curse in the chaos sanctuary.
