So much merit. The most merit, probably anywhere.

a)Barter and Exchange Generally. The terms “sale” and “purchase” as defined in Sections 6011 and 6012 respectively, include exchange and barter, and gross receipts and sales price constituting the measure of tax include the amount allowed by a retailer to his customer for property or services of any kind. Thus, the operator of an “exchange” where customers pay for their purchases of tangible personal property entirely or in part by other property is a retailer and taxable upon his gross receipts, unless his sales are insufficient in number, scope and character to constitute an activity requiring the holding of a seller’s permit.

not sure why it matters what the definition of bartering is anyway seeing as forum gold is a currency (freely admitted by the website) and as such you are buying and selling items.

not to mention the pointlessness of using an over a century old definition of something to try to define a digital transaction.

I’d love to reply, but I’ve been told that since

Blacks law dictionary - the most widely used legal dictionary in the USA has a definition with sources, which is also available on Free dictionary…you know…another dictionary, it’s invalid.

Doesn’t matter forum gold isn’t a “currency” as defined by Blacks or any source that would be used in contract legal proceedings.

Sources are irrelevant here!

Only California Tax sales use applies LOL

You don’t need to project your freedictionary.com, blacks law, and Google sources onto anyone but yourself. Lol

you are using the definition from 1910 the 2nd of 11 revisions of the book, it is not used in the USA any more.

The second edition of Black’s Law Dictionary , published in 1910, is now in the public domain and is widely reproduced online. References to case law are out-of-date, and that edition of the dictionary omits legal terms that have since come into use and does not reflect contemporary changes in how legal terms are used.
