I am super duper liking what I see in POE 2 it looks like what D2 devs would have made if they had the team and budget to make a new ARPG.
With D4 I am super duper worried they will pull another Diablo 3 on us
Will Diablo 4 at least be like Diablo 2? or is it going to suck like D3?
Note I don’t expect anything to compete with POE2 at this point.
AAA companies no longer have the ability to create a game as good as POE, not their fault tho I think it’s the nature of being a publicly traded company you lose the ability to produce legends you did back when you were smaller company and had passion for things.
It almost sounds like perhaps you should be on a D4 forum or POE forum talking about this.
D4 gonna suck cuz that is what Acti does. POE I’ve never played. Hope it is good for those that play it tho.
Btw being a AAA company has nothing to do with it. Vale and Riot exist. Just depends on what you want to be known for. Making the most money, or making art. Blizz used to make art. Activision full sent making trash to collect your paycheck.
I still don’t know if I’ll be interested in playing it if I can’t find rush games to skip leveling every single character through 10 acts or whatever. I always lose my patience before I can even get close to running the maps, which is why I want to play on the first place.
Poe2 will suck. It’s the same devs who have destroyed PoE from its former glory since 2018. Anything remotely fun has been nerfed to the grave. Countless builds/skills/items just obliterated. Power creep from every new league, garbage mechanics, zero effort. If this isn’t enough, the player base is used as their free beta testers for every league. When ggg sold to Tencent in 2018, the game lost all creative design. Poe 2 will be no different. But so many fans still pay +$1200/year for cosmetics “supporter” packs and worthless battle passes, for this non-indie company run by one of the biggest corporate giants in Asia.
Tencent completely owns POE? Are they a publisher and developer now? I don’t really keep up with them I’ve heard things but I don’t really know of them.
Sounds like another activision buyout though. The big companies buying out small good game makers and using that hype to deplete fans of their money is a big issue. Problem is that people keep supporting it. If I were honest, no matter how much I like D2 I shouldn’t have bought D2R, but I can say that otherwise I haven’t purchased a single Activision game in a long while since I realized all they do is produce trash based off the hype of the company’s they’ve bought previous hype. But nothing will change so it is what it is.
I don’t think that guy knows what he is talking about I doubt he even plays POE
POE still plays like the exact same game from a decade ago so he is just making sh*t up.
The part about tencent I could never understand why Chris allowed that but then again Chris has retained 100% Control of POE which is how the deal was made. They used tencent to fund POE2 to make it a AAA title.
This is the reality, tencnet has 0 influence or control over the design of POE 1 and 2.
That guy is probably one of those crazy Russian trolls or he watches Tucker Carlson, I dunno man his reply is weird and unhinged.
If POE 1 was successful which IMO it clearly was. Why would they need funding from tencent? And why would tencent invest to the point of a controlling interest but not control it? Maybe their back-end money deal is nice, but that seems like an odd deal to amke.
Not sure about any of the meta in POE. Never played, watched maybe 2 mins of a stream of it. Don’t know why I never got into it.
Probably best not to get into POE, its extremely addicted and messes with your sleep it causes you to get way less sleep and everytime you go to sleep you dream about it.
It may sound good but it isn’t because you feel sick when you wake up.
This is one aspect I miss with D3, it may be many things but one thing D3 did good was it put you to sleep, IMO this is a good thing because you get a much better sleep for the next day.
Even the D3 Devs had this same issue they would complain on the forum many years ago about how D3 would constantly put them to sleep when they played it.
Correct, that is why PoE has been so incredibly successful over the years. Its the real spiritual successor of Diablo 2. Diablo 3 is just a really well made knock-off with the Diablo names itself.
From everything I’ve seen, that is exactly what Diablo 4 is. Its Diablo 3, 2.0 – but with a new darker paint job. Not in design, but literally just used a darker pallet swap.
Pretty much.
Take a direct look at the PoE 2 trailer, and compare that visually to Diablo 4.
If you did not know any better, you would say that Diablo 4 looks like the cheap knock-off while PoE2 is exactly what you would expect from a Diablo 2 sequel.
Its really not even a close contest. PoE2 is the better game from this point in time.
This is everything I feared and is everything I have seen and noticed for myself.
The color palette is darker and they increased the texture detail to 4K, they added blood in the alpha shown 4 years ago and now removed it.
D3 did that they showed a gritty D2-like trailer of D3 and released a saturday morning cartoon but a boring one.
I noticed D4 has the same gameplay as D3 and the newer content they release looks even more cartoony and even more dumbed down like D3.
So they using the old bait and switch scam yet again, because Blizzard is a publicly traded company with a cocoa cola ceo, that’s why Diablo Immortal is even a thing.
All publicly traded companies have this very same issue especially ones that are this large.
None of them are capable of making real games anymore.
It is similar to the term “Too much chef ruins the soup”
Your expectations are extremely low if this is your world view on ARPGs.
Path of Exile is very poorly implemented in terms of diversity and meaningful complexity, especially when it comes to content management and power creep. They veil this behind “seasonal changes to the meta”, which I guess is one way of managing power creep but it shouldn’t be an issue to begin with.
It’s a fun game, don’t get me wrong but it’s not a perfect game and is very far from being close to perfect.
Also POE is free so you have no reason to “choose” POE2 over Diablo 4 in terms of “getting” whichever game you want when it comes to playability. The only factor here is whether or not you’ll want to risk spending $70 on D4 or… simply just picking POE2 up and playing.
My good sir, allow me to expound upon the matter of Path of Exile 2. I have heard tell that it shall be free-to-play, and therefore, there is no reason not to give it a try when it releases. 'Tis a game of great renown, with a loyal and devoted following, and now with the advent of its sequel, it promises to be an even grander experience. What better way to delve into this world of dark fantasy, of complex skill trees and intricate itemization, than to do so without the burden of a financial commitment? I implore thee, do not let the opportunity pass thee by. Take up thy sword, my friend, and venture forth into the world of Path of Exile 2. Forsooth, it may just be the adventure thou hast been waiting for.
