Should I add 1 point to Salvation when fighting Uber Mephisto?

I’m about to try the Ubers for the first time and I was just wondering if it is worth it to put 1 point into Salvation. I’m going to proc Fade and wear a Smoke to beef up my resistances. With Smoke I will have +75% or more in all resistances and then with Fade I will have even more than that. I’m going to have 10 points put into Resist Lightning so I will have a passive bonus of 5% to max lightning resist. Would it be overkill to put one point into Salvation?

Either I will put 2 more points into Resist Lightning or 1 point in Salvation and put the extra point in something else. What does everyone think?

uber meph gives -125 allres from his conviction, if you just stack more than that theres no reason to run any aura besides fanaticism, personally i never used salvation

I have +55% resistances without Smoke. Then with Smoke I have +105% resistances. Then with Fade proc that is +165% resistances. This leaves me with +40% resistances after Uber Meph’s conviciton aura. Is +40% good enough to survive? Can I just use Fanaticism instead of Salvation?

Another option is to run level 21 or higher conviction, which will nullify Uber Mephistos level 20 conviction.

Fanaticism. You can kill Ubers at level 80 or less with 1base point in smite and 1 base point in Fanaticism. BO is pretty important. The extra health is a nice buffer till the Lifetap catches up. I never worried about resistance and I’ve never died to Ubers, though the first time is a little hectic. Just watch a video so you know what to do and jump in.

You can also Just stack some lightning res charms in your inventory. I have some spare lightning charms in my stash only for meph.

you will want 75% lite res AFTER mephs conviction, the other res can be 40% ish AFTER mephs conviction not a big deal. As said already above just stack some lite res charms in inventory. don’t waste points into salvation.

If you use salv you are lowering your attack speed and your ability to heal from lifetap. Make sure you have enough resists without salvation.

Can you share some basic elements of your build and gear when you are done?

I have a Hammerdin and will use 1_Fanaticism + 1_Smite. Or I am thinking of respecing to full smiter.

From what I’ve read a hamerdin with 1 in Fant/Smite can definitely get it done, but I have no direct experience, as I’ve only done them with Frenzy barb so far. Just found the last key I need to do another run a few days ago, now I just need to find some time to play more!

I have killed Uber Mephisto several times with Conviction and several times with Fanaticism. For me, Conviction is much better. Once Life Tap triggers, my character never dies with Conviction. With Fanaticism, one big hit can still kill you. With only 6 base points in Conviction, this yields level 21 Conviction, enough to cancel out Uber Mephisto Conviction. No need to have ridiculously high resistance.
