Everything that made warlock fun has been patched out of the game.
Go back to the 20 year old meta!!!

You can only wear 2-hand weapons if you have a book equipped now, never a shield. It’s the new patch.

That doesn’t make sense… aren’t they levitating the weapon? Why can’t they use a shield? But they can use a book?
they made it so you have to use codex instead of a shield aka monarch
Blizzard wants players to use the book instead.
Why can’t Paladins use a head for a shield, like a Necromancer can? Why can’t a Necromancer use a dead wolf skin for a helmet like a Druid? Sometimes it’s for balance, and sometimes it’s just for the archetype class fantasy. Some make more sense than others, but some are just the developer’s choice… like characters can use a regular Javelin, but they cannot use the Amazon-only Ceremonial Javelin?
Off Topic: Don’t you still owe me a duel in Diablo 3?

Could have been a bug. Knowing Blizzard and how the Warlock turned out being broken with many, many bugs, I would not be surprised at all if Blizzard just didn’t think people would use shields instead of the new book.
You can always look at the trailer and see if the Warlock ever used a shield instead of the book in there.

I didn’t see a Warlock using a shield but maybe you can find it.
It wasn’t a bug llama said that they gave feedback to blizzard that a 2 hander plus a shield was going to be to broken and that blizzard decided to see it in practice first

Now everybody has to re spec, re farm, and re gear. Countless hours down the drain. They do not respect your time, or effort one bit. That is 100% apparent now. Like 95% of people I talk to are done with these guys. Seems like this is the new norm for developers, always making us chase the new meta. What a huge waste of time. Back to playing dayz, battlefield and arma for me… at least I don’t have to spend countless hours chasing a meta anymore for it just to be changed 3 months later.
What they should have done is allowed 2h weapons to function as 1hers but with a damage penalty.
The real problem wirh the situation is that you get 3 gear slots for 2.
This change just totally ruins itemization choices. Better to have the choices and control tje over poweredness elsewhere.
I have literally no options for my offhand slot when using a 2h, thats just lame
I mean maybe one handing a 2her is just op period lol regardless of shield use.

I just wish they took away your ethereal 2H weapon wielded in 1H without losing durability. That alone is super powerful and no other class gets to do the same.
Find a good book or wield a 1H weapon + shield. Both are feasible and powerful still.
Because theyre already overpowered and shields make them too op.
