Jeff here, played the closed/open beta. Loved it, great work VV .
I was thinking about the shared stash and what we use to have for space in D2 LOD.
The shared stash is much welcomed; however, I think we should have at least 5-6 shared stashes as that would basically replace a mule account.
Back in D2 LOD, we had 48 spaces per character within the stash and 40 spaces in each inventory. So 48 x 8 = 384 + 40 x 8 = 400 for a total of 704 of just storage so at least 7 shared stash tabs of 10x10 = 100.
I would have liked at least a means to unlock more stash space. I can only imagine with, how I used to play, that I’d fill it quickly and after a year or so, the 20 character cap would be holding me back as well.
We’ll see. Maybe the nostalgia will wear off quickly and I won’t play anywhere near as much as when this game was brand new.
why shared stash tab ? one is enough (unless we go the plugy way and actually get tons of shared tab )
why not personal stash tab ? at the very least it would make characters / mule more efficients that way and a lot more space that if they were merely some shared stash tab.
Personal tabs just mean you have lots of mules with more space. Shared tabs mean you don’t need mules. I think it’s better not to have mules. I would love to have 3 basic shared tabs and an additional 7 unlock-able with gold.
if you think merely 7 shared stash would be enough for people to not be muling…it’s wrong, at least for many hoarders and holy grailer.
i used to have 4 to 5 accounts dediacted solely to muling in diablo 2 each ladder i actively played.
7 shared won’t gonna cut it.
though 3 basic and 7 shared would still be better than 1 basic and 3 shared i guess.
I’d say 10 is a good number… like 1 personal 9 shared… also allow shared stash to function like personal stash… where you can like actually swap items without having to manually move them… like ffs, why isn’t that a thing?
why 9 shared and only 1 personal ?
at least personal are multiplied by the amount of characters… so 1 extra personal means 20 extra tab in total.
whereas 1 shared stash tab only means 1 extra tab in total…
i really think that we should have more personal tab than shared tab. (unless they go all out and really give tons of shared tab like plugY but fat chance)
but in my opinion until then , it would be way better with 9 personal and 1 shared.
i would like to have at least 50 character slots and a materials tab. the only things that would go into it would be things that do not have a variation of stats. such as runes gems keys organs and tokens. you open that page and click everything in your inventory that applies and it goes where its supposed to . to take it out again you just start left clicking the item and one at a time they fill your inventory. that way people can feel just as rich as they used to back in the day without feeling restricted.
if we are stuck with 20 character slots just double the private stash and reduce shared by 1 would almost be the same thing. the only real issue with increasing the private stash is when you die. if you have 4m gold (2.5m on one stash and 1.5m on the other) its going to suck to lose so much off one death. lol. i hope they do the materials tab otherwise a lot of people are going to complain we cant keep nearly the amount we remember hoarding back in the day.
I hear what you’re saying in that regards, like more personal because then your mules will be worth more than a single slot… I just figure 10 total tabs is good enough to work with…
I mean theoretically:
1 tab for gems
1 tab for runes
1 tab for charms
1 tab for potential rune word bases (maybe 2)
1 tab for merc stuff
a couple tabs for lowbie gear sharing.
What are we at like 8 tabs now?
Use the other one as you see fit, maybe for rings / amulets, I dunno… then your personal stuff for gear swapping or class exclusive items?
That’s just how I would do it… with more personal tabs it means more switching around and sifting through tabs then transferring it to a shared tab… it just seems like less work to me having more shared tabs.
Also it would be really nice if the shared tabs functioned like a personal tab so you didn’t have to manually move crap around…
hardly , maybe for playing casualy / leisurely , but as soon as you start hoarding , mere shared tab will feel useless to you compared to personal tab.
That being said , you can always make it so each characters have specific things if you like to do that. (and simply keep some items you might use universally in the one or two shared stash tab available to avoid switching as you say)
only 20 chars with 1 personal tab, even if they were all mules , is not a lot at all sadly you can’t even do the holy grail challenge with that.
50+ char slot each with multiple personal tab and some shared stash would be cool
my only issue with having a massive shared stash is what it will do to the servers. having possibly millions of people playing with 10+ shared stash tabs all at once will definitely cause issues. otherwise like you said would be very cool.
Well then you’re in for a treat trying to work with 4 I guess…
I mean you can argue it all you want, more tabs is more tabs… personal is more convenient if you plan on playing like 1 character or making a whole lot of mules but the entire point of shared tabs was so people didn’t create characters in excess to just sit there hording items… it was the same reason they had characters auto-expire.
If we had more shared there wouldn’t be a need for personal because the functionality and utility of them is hands down better, as they work universally across every character.
All characters made have access to all those items you’re hording using shared… why someone wouldn’t want this is just bizarre to me. I do agree we need more tabs over all, I just prefer shared… and like I said, for me 9 would be fine I think most players would agree, it was even an option in their survey they did and they decided on 3 for whatever reason.
I guess if you were doing a holy grail playthrough that might be an issue but the intent was never to horde junk in Diablo or Diablo II. Part of the game play was always making choices and sacrifices, it’s literally built in by design. It may be considered bad design by todays standards but that was the original intention of the developers.
Any way yeah, good luck, I hope they add more shared tabs over time or a means to get more because yeah 3 shared and 1 personal just isn’t enough.
i disagree on that part , we could and can still make infinite account for free on OG diablo 2 and i always had atleast 5 account each ladder. (6 months is long after all)
there was no choices or sacrifices there.
it’s not that i disagree with it , it’s just unlikely that VV or blizzard allow us to have enough shared stash tab for mules to not be needed.
but i’am not against it , as you can see in one of my message :
if they do it like plugY and gives us really tons of shared stash tab (hundred or more) indeed it would be awesome , sadly it’s a bit unlikely.
