Servers slow in the evening? (ps5 version)

Is it just me or does it seem slower? Like selecting my character and going into the lobby I’m sitting waiting a minute or two before it takes me the screen to select make private game public or join public game. It also sometimes takes longer when creating game it takes longer to see the door open with the wander standing in front of the door. Is it just me or is everyone else having this same slowness at night at sometimes (every other game). Please don’t tell me it’s my ps5 failing in me it’s not even a year old yet.

Sounds like thermal throttling. As far as why it only happens in the evening, the first thought is the sun. Is the sun hitting the PS5 or a cabinet the PS5 is in during the evening hours? Even the sun hitting the wall of the building can sometimes raise the temperature significantly next to the wall on the inside. (Usually older brick or even granite walled buildings with poor insulation)

I got blackout curtains in my room keeping it pretty dark during the day.

Buy a cheap temperature monitor and put it next to your PS5, that way you can keep an eye on it. Take notes of time of day and temperatures both when the PS5 is and isn’t running. Find the pattern.

Another thought is the system may need to be cleaned out. Any system with forced air cooling will slowly build up dust and lint floating in the air, which slowly constricts the airflow through the system. If you’ve never cleaned it out, then you should give that a try.

If you’re a DIY’er, here’s a video on how to clean your PS5:

Or if you don’t feel comfortable doing this yourself, take it somewhere reputable that can do it for you.

I got a humidity and temp reader next to it but I can start tracking. My room does get the hottest in the house I could start opening my bedroom door to maintain same temp throughout house including room. It certainly didn’t do this before either it just recently started acting bit slow at night. When I get off work and play at night no issue. Just yesterday when playing from 12-7 I noticed it. Maybe I do need to give it a one hour cool down break at like a 5 hour mark. Giving the system an hour or two cool down after 5/10 hours constant playing isn’t harmful and could be beneficial I bet. And only once a week I would play constant like that cause I work 6 days a week so it’s not like I play constant like this everyday of the week. Forgot to add that the system is on top shelf where heat rises maybe I could put it on lower shelf or near ground idk. (And again the slowness is not significant… just a tiny bit I’m just making it sound like a lot more because it’s not the normal)
