Gotta let those Celeron processor server blades from 2001 cool down eh?
No point in 2 hour maintenance if you’re not adding or fixing anything in the game. Lol just throwin’ that out there.

original didnt need maint and also never crashed and the chat always worked (atleast til like 2020)
Weekly maintenance brings weekly complaints about maintenance. A never ending cycle. Get used to it.
A bit of planned downtime for maintenance to keep things running is a lot better than a bunch of unplanned downtime because of something major breaking due to lack of maintenance.
An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
boo hoo
Sounds like something Jay Wilson would say.
Well as you well know with other popular games such as CSGO, DBD, Destiny, GTAV, ect… Everyone shuts down their servers once a week to keep their servers great again. (big sarcasm, and the big lie)… TBH I’m rather certain they have only 3 servers, one per region. And I’m sure as you can tell they’re overloaded, old, poorly maintained, likely overheating… How they couldn’t keep back up servers to seamlessly switch to is beyond me, considering the cost of this game which obviously didn’t cost much to reproduce, and wasn’t and isn’t even ready for release.
Or Benjamin Franklin.

Games run on servers, which have additional software, and an operating system which require patching. Most notably, security patching involving CVE, which will be discovered on OS level, software level, and even on appliances.
It’s not always about the game itself, but they also aren’t going to / need to give you every specific detail of what they’re patching as well if it does involve the game.
Just throwin that out there ¯_(ツ)_/¯
the cooldown on D2R servers is even higher than the cooldown of D3 spells.
ya but they could, but they like to pretend like they’re the adult and we’re the children and we only need to know what they think we need to know but honestly. they’re doing it all wrong…
but what else did we expect from blizzard? HONESTLY. what they have TURNED into since blizzard north is pathetic.

Yeah but the original was written by Blizzard North, aka as people who love games and care for games.
This ofcourse is more new age Blizzard were much the focus lays on earning as much money as possible without having to much blowback and does not hurt sales further up the road.
Personally wonder if there is more than 1 employee in the current dev team that is really passionate about what he is doing.

If you set things up properly you can take them down one at a time without disrupting anything - more likely they only have 1-2 servers for each region or so; or just never bothered to set it up that way to save money
did they fix the lobby?? /s
So you can walk outside and have some sun.
If seriously - it’s probably database maintenance. Purging logs, backups. etc.
Okay op
Well, anyways, there was a patch today
Yeah wonder what they patched.
Hopefully the dumb a2 merc that wanders off and paces back n forth and fails to contribute anything to the game.
Yeah, same, see you next week on the weekly complaining lol, it’s never seen before, weekly maintenance? meh, weak.
