"Select Difficulty" window need a change

It probably has been requested before. Briefly as possible, I want a change of the “Select Difficulty” window upon starting a single player game. One of the most frustrating things to me with this game is accidentally wiping all maps after selecting the wrong difficulty by mistake. Hours of fruitless farm and then clicking by mistake and wiping a good set of maps (a combination of good Andariel, Mephisto, Lower Kurast and etc. maps) that one deems efficient to farm and play can be an extremely painful experience. I believe we can no longer use the “classic experience” argument, as many QOL changes have been made already. This too is exactly a QOL change that can make my and probably others’ single player experience much, much better. Please, if you support this keep commenting so the topic can stay on top and gain attention. If you, like me, are a single player player and understand the pain a simple missclick can cause, please assist with keeping this topic alive. Thanks!

Use hotkeys instaed of clicking IMHO:

R = noRmal
N = Nightmare
H = Hell

A hotkey, in my opinion, can and will eventually lead to a missclick yet again. What I see as a possible solution is simply adding a “default” difficulty - you pick a difficulty once and you enter the same by default without a prompt to pick every time. You want to change - you change the “default”.

Never played diablo single player tbh.

So single player keep your map always and you can start new game in it and have the “exploration” already done?

Yes, that is correct. Once you explore a map in single player it always stays the same until you change the difficulty. And with the current window prompt it happens painfully often that a missclick occurs and wipes the maps.

That sounds poop poop. They should let you keep the exploration for sure then. It’s single player anyways.

Yeah it should be a thing! /support

Come on fellas, show some empathy for the hard grinding single player players who lose their maps with a single missclick due to hours long grind fatigue!

Seems easy enough so why not?

Is our possible to copy your map file to a backup archive once you get one you want to prevent the miss click from ruining your day? If you miss click you could just exit and restore the map file?

I do think saving and defaulting to the last game name or difficulty could be nice.
The lobby browser could use a few improvements still

With all the attention to Battle net, I would like to again remind that a small UI change allowing us to default a difficulty without constantly selecting one will tremendously benefit thousands of players. A player can run Pindle or Lower Kurast or others hundreds of times in the span of few hours. That means hundreds of times selecting a difficulty. Fatigue does cause missclicking, which is a bane to an offline player. Help me keep this topic alive. A small UI change like this can have ONLY positive effects. It is not changing the gameplay or anything related. It saves us time and frustration.

I’d actually like the maps to regenerate every time, regardless of changing difficulty, or at least to have that as an option as part of the experience is to explore… not get so accustomed to the arrangement you can play on autopilot. I am not a human bot. I want to be engaged in the game.

That suggestion, I believe, is related to a gameplay change, different to the UI change I suggest in this topic. Therefore a new, separate topic would probably be more suitable for your suggestion. I’ll still share my opinion - having the same map is perhaps the single most significant difference between single player and online. If maps were to regenerate on single player it would remove a major reason for, I believe, many players (myself included) to even consider playing offline (or even playing Diablo II at all). Again, this probably deserves a different topic.

I still want my suggestion for a small UI change to default the difficulty to be seen and discussed by devs.

Need one that says “Like Diablo 3” so it launches Diablo 3 instead.

Just wiped my maps with a miss click. I’m thinking a “multiple choice” option on the character selection screen that remembers the selection for each character would solve this issue. Could be placed on the bottom left. Nothing else to accidentally click in that area. Should also be unobtrusive for anyone wanting to gaze at their character or scenery surrounding it.
