Runeword "stone" not working

Hi together,

I tried runeword stone (shael, um, pul, lum) in a grey breast armor and it doesn’t work.
The color changed to blue while i put in the gems!

And it was definitely a grey one with exact 4 sockets!
Now its just a magical item with no runeword on it… :frowning:

Here is a image:

It was at difficulty hell, dont know exactly where.

Is this a known bug?

Putting Runes in a Normal Socketed item does not change the item to a Magic (blue) item.

  • Where did you get the item?
  • Which Act?
  • What Game Difficulty?

I guess you already know that Rune Words do not work in Magic items.

Unfortunately, you can no longer post a screenshot of the item before you put the Runes in it.

Can you post a screenshot of the item with the Runes in it?

You’re currently at Trust Level 1 on these forums. You will only be able to post links as preformatted text. To do this, follow the instructions below.

How to Post Links

  1. Upload your screenshot to a free image-hosting website, like Imgur.
  2. Paste the “Direct Link” in your post.

Prunkvolle Verzierte Plattenrüstung translates to English as Ornate Plate Armor.

This is confusing to me because:

  1. Prunkvolle translates to Ornate
  2. Verzierte also translates to Ornate or Ornament
  3. Plattenrüstung translates to Plate Armor.

Hopefully, Blizzard’s QA Team will check this out.

In the meantime, did you buy this Plate Armor from a Vendor?

Hey,

yes, its the ornate plate. “Prunkvolle” is just the affix makes it blue.
But it was grey before…

“Prunkvolle” wouldn’t happen to also translate to “Mechanic’s” would it?

By the way, you never said if you bought this Armor from a Vendor or it dropped in a hostile area.

These days the quality Blizzard has been delivering for the past 2 years or so actually turns all proof-concepts around 180 degree, meaning:

Usually you’d wonder if someone had a drink too many if he said his grey armour turned blue… but tbh I totally expect bs like this to happen in Blizzard games nowadays, it seems like a typical Blizzard thing to have these kind of bugs in their “software”, as their devs have really proven by now to be grossly incompetent.

“Jeweler’s” = “Prunkvolle”
“Ornate Plate” = “Verzierte Plattenrüstung”

Remove the runes and you’ll see if it’s blue or not (the armor is now worthless anyway).
Jeweler’s is a magical affix which adds 4 sockets, so the armor should be blue.

Yeah, but the point is: Skullman stated it was a grey item prior to the socketing. There are other reports of the same issue. Maybe false memory, maybe not. I think it’s worth looking into this.

Well there is nothing to say more…rip intelligence playerbase…

WTF look at that screenshot it is BLUE!

You think it’s impossible that there’s indeed a bug? Well, whatever.

YES!

Putting Runes in a Normal (white) item WILL NOT “magically” turn that item into a Magic (blue) item.

(Well, actually a Normal Socketed item would be gray, and not white).

And many of us will continue to believe this until you or someone else posts a screenshot of a Normal Socketed item without the Runes, showing it is gray. And then posting a screenshot of the same item after putting the Runes in it showing it has turned blue.

Haha, i know it never happened in og D2. But D2R is so full of bugs that i tend to believe this could be a thing. I now make a habbit of creating Stealth rws from random armors.

Never say something is impossible. That’s not a healthy attitude.*

*regarding bugs in soft- and hardware.

Well, when you can provide before and after screenshots, then you can post a Bug Report about it.

It isn’t “healthy” reporting bugs you don’t know are bugs either.

What is it they say when you “assume” things?

Dude, i didn’t report anything here.

I know how to report bugs. But a random player who just got this “maybe” bug can’t do this. Unless he can somehow timetravel.

You implied a bug was reported here. (Same thing).

There have been a lot of reports of this. And no one has yet posted “before” screenshots.

If it happened to me, I’d start taking screenshots before and after every Rune Word I created. If it’s truly a bug, it will happen again. Only then would I report it. And I would have the screenshots to back it up.

This might be a rare occurance. So the only way of testing is repetition. How would a random player who just stumbled upon this “bug” and doesn’t even know of this forum do this? Who takes a screenshot of a base item before placing the runes into it (no one). I don’t say this bug exists. I just said it could be a thing.

With the UI being this bugged I can easily imagine the UI showing the item as grey but internally being magical (because of the jewelers affix) and being handled as this by the backend.
A new UI can always be bugged and not show the real truth (see Merc display bug of the auras on UI but working correctly ingame).
