Came up with an idea for a runeword at work. Decided to write it down and see what others thought of it. The idea was to create an endgame runeword that worked for niche builds with a new 4 socket armor runeword. I thought of a runeword that would synergize well with less common icemaiden zon builds and holy freeze paladins, but could also work with cold druids and sorceresses. The runeword lacks the mobility of Enigma, the resistances of CoH, and the raw ED of Fortitude, but has other interesting stats that aren’t found on a large majority of armors.
Blistering Cold
Vex + Ber + Ohm + Jah
Indestructible
Level 13 Holy Freeze Aura when equipped
30% chance to cast level 15 lower resist when striking
15% chance to cast level 21 blizzard when striking
5% to maximum cold resist
5% to maximum fire resist
8% reduced damage
Increase Maximum Life 5%
-15% enemy cold resistance
+3 Cold Skills
+1 Frozen Armor (All classes)
50% Better Chance at Finding Magic Items
20% Faster Cast Rate
15% Increased Attack Speed
i came in here fully expecting a terrible design, but this isnt bad at all, the main problem is
the frozen aura… while i like it… until blizzard fixes aura stacking( and by fixes i mean completely stop from stacking like its intended) until this BS is fixed, i don’t see how this can be added,
well imo you put some pretty heavy downsides… not having any resists for most classes is pretty big… especially on a chest piece. the runes are also VERY high, and many of the effects dont pair great with the characters that would best use them.
for example… a cold sorc really gets next to zero benefit from lower resist or the blizzard or the - resist or the frozen armor becuase of cold mastery, liekwise the IAS and raw damage
a cold bowzon can use it best it seems
its really just a fun niche item you can use the vast majority of builds
having lower resist is great for a bunch of other builds, but most melee builds dont care about elemental damage,
it just doesn’t seem to be really “op” for any builds other than bowzon or a build specially trying to break the aura.
just something people would use for fun… not “to be the best”
“I think this needs more attributes… 13 additional clearly isn’t enough to make it competitive against uniques and sets…”
Breath of the Dying has 14 attributes, and it uses less high runes. This armor lacks many of the most desired attributes (Resistances, Attributes, Enhanced Def/Dam). Grief also has a high amount of attributes, many of which are far more effective than the ones on this proposed runeword. Unbending Will has 15 affixes… You get the point.
2 To Assassin Skill Levels
+320-370% Enhanced Damage (varies)
Freeze Target +3
Hit Blinds Target
+402 Poison Damage Over 6 Seconds
+25% Increased Attack Speed
7% Life Stolen Per Hit
Indestructible
-(30-50)% To Enemy Posion Resistance (varies)
+1 to Werewolf
I wish this Claw runeword could be reality 2.5 =).
And to you Moldraxian i think this attributs with 30% chances to cast lower resist both struck and striking to good, you need to reduced them or take one of them away.
You clearly have no idea how itemization works. A runeword with its highest rune being FAL has more affixes than this proposed runeword. The amount of affixes =/= OP. The point of this runeword is to give alternatives to Enigma Meta play by giving other builds more variability.
I like that is really expensive, and disagree with some of the other posts on what needs to go.
It has enough to warrant those runes and perhaps more. I like the aura - i like auras, i agree they shouldnt stack forever though. I dont like that it has 30% lower resist on hit, because a merc with the right equipdment will pretty much break everything.
I like the +5%ers.
I like the small IAS and FCR.
Lose the 8% DR. (Edit: Suppose you cant because of the Ber, with a Ber it is reasonable to keep)
Add a Zod to pay for the indestructable, or lose it.
But… i like it!
It is sort of niche - but i would love this on any character really. Or any merc.
To my understanding, even with lower resist, most monsters will still be immune if they are frost/fire immune since those have such higher base resistances in Hell. You are right that some additional monsters would be broken by the combination of this armor effect and an infinity. Thanks for the input!
Good one nub. Good thing I only play Hardcore.[quote=“DirtyHairy-11980, post:19, topic:138814, full:true”]
