If you’re in a game, you can’t right click (cast spells) at the area of chat messages.
-
Bugged mercenaries of other players sometimes appear at the spawn spot, they don’t move, but you can hover them (showing their names) and so they’re blocking town portals (act 4 and 5).
-
If you enter a new area, the automap is invisible. You have to move a little bit to make it appear. Very annoying, because you think it is off, you press TAB to turn it on but actually you’re turning it off …
-
Telekinesis skill needs a line of sight to hit chests/urns/baskets or the stash in town. It did not in legacy D2. Please fix or say if it is intended behaviour.
-
Using the telekinesis skill from a distance on quest items looks like it works, but it doesn’t. This sometimes leads to a bugged game state:
- frozen Anya → You won’t get the thawing potion from Malah.
- Orifice in Tal Rashas Tomb → If you activate it, the Horadrim staff disappears, but you somehow are still holding it in your hand and can’t do anything. Pressing ESC fixes it.
- Altar at Arreat Summit → Looks activated, but isn’t. Other players can’t activate it. Opening a town portal fixes it.
-
Mercenaries (at least the desert mercenary from A2) sometimes don’t teleport with you.
-
If you create a game and leave it, the “Create Game” tab should be active, not the “Join Game” tab.
-
If you select a game in the “join game” tab, press TAB to move to “Game Name”, the selected game won’t be unselected and will be joined, instead of the newly typed game name.
-
I hate the new stat and new skill point buttons appearing in the middle of the screen, when your character levels up. This is very annoying. Please move these buttons down to the UI like in legacy D2LoD or let the buttons only appear, if there weren’t any remaining stat or skill points before the level up. (Sometimes you want to keep some points …)
-
The /fps information and the chat messages are colliding with the mercenary/party member icons. (why are they arranged vertically now???)
-
Please add a -skiptobnet option to skip all the intros (or reduce the number of game crashes).
-
It would be nice, if the /nopickup setting would be kept after restarting the game. A checkbox in the Options/Gameplay for /nopickup would be helpful, too.
-
The Quest Log should show the current act when opening.
-
It is not possible to select another quest in the quest log during the quest completed animation.
-
If you create a new char, this char should automatically be selected.
-
If you delete a character, the confirmation query should mention the character name (and probably character type and level) to avoid mistakes.
-
Mercenary screen should show the experience number, so that you can see it change while fighting without having to hover the experience bar.
-
It would be nice, if the number at the withdraw/deposit prompt would be completely selected, so that you could immediately replace it by typing a new number. Currently it keeps the selection state even if you switch between withdraw and deposit, which is weird (select only one digit to see what I mean).
-
The sound effect of switching the weapon slot is too quiet and hard to hear.
-
If you right click at an empty tome of identify, the cursor turns into the identify symbol. It does not in legacy D2.
-
Please allow (at least on PC) to use left/right keys to move the caret in Game Name/Password input boxes.
-
Selected buttons should be visually more emphasized (e.g. selected char at the start screen, or Normal/Nightmare/Hell at the “Join Game” screen). A grey font for the unselected ones would help a lot, like you did it at “Create Game” / “Join Game” / “Ladder”.
-
I would prefer difficulty buttons (Normal/Nightmare/Hell) in the “Join Game” tab (like in the “Create Game” tab) instead of the small gear button (took me some time to discover it).
-
Please omit channel messages when joining/leaving games (Game <-> Trade).
-
Even though Options/Gameplay/“Show Game Name and Password” is checked, the password isn’t shown in the info area of the automap and at the party screen it always says XXXXXXXXX.
-
The info area of the automap should show the difficulty also for normal games.
-
Please add a custom Game Name filter (with regular expressions or at least wild cards) for the “Join Game” game list.
-
Add an option to autofill the Game Name for next games: if you leave a game and there is a number at the right side of the Game Name, count it up by 1, keep the password and autofill the input boxes at “Create Game”/“Join Game”.
-
Please rework the whole “Join Game” screen:
-
Please merge the “Settings” and “Players” information of a selected game (like in legacy D2), so that you see both immediately when selecting a game.
-
Increase the size of the game list to show more games (also increase the font size a bit and remove the black separation lines). You could move the “Exit Lobby” button to the left and reduce the free space around the “Join Game” button …
-
Reduce the size of the avatars in channel. In D2 11 chars are visible, in D2R only 8 even though it is 16:9. The channels are used to build teams, you need 8 players for a full team, so more avatars than 8 should be visible (some players may be afk or too low level …)
-
Please add an easier way to create/join custom channels (currently it works with “/channel private %channelname%”) and an API for channel bots.
-
Show notification messages when friends join games.
-
Please try to improve the loading times when switching areas. Especially loading Harrogath takes too long (annoying when you try to heal at Malah after wave 2) …
-
Now that your developer team has rewritten the client and server code, regained all the knowledge and the graphics designers adopted the art style, you should really think about working on a second addon (1-2 new char types, 3 more WPs and 3 more quests in act 4, a new act 6, a few more items/rune words, …). Then you could keep the 1.14d patch state as a true remaster for LoD, and do a major overhaul and rebalancing for the 2nd addon.

About the widescreen discussion:
Exploring the map is an extremely important part of many play styles (questing, MFing, baalruns, keyruns, …). Showing more of the map than with the legacy 800x600 resolution is a huge advantage. This is even notable with the small increase to 16:9, teleporting is much easier. 19:9, 21:9, 32:9 or wider screens (would) increase this advantage even much further and (would) make the competitive gameplay (ladder!) unfair.
I have two suggestions for a compromise:
A:
Use the additional screen space to permanently show info screens (like inventory, party screen, chat log, game list, …). A mouse clipping option could be useful …
B:
Only show the already explored parts of the map (with a view range comparable to 800x600 to be a true remaster), like the growing behaviour of the automap. In that case, a mouse clipping (to the 800x600 range) would be required to limit the casting range and also a fog of war to hide monsters, items and other players beyond the 800x600 range. Towns could be completely visible from the beginning.
