Resurrected balance/content patch for the 2001 Diablo 2 LOD?

I am a casual D2 player, not much into ladder and all that.

Usually i play coop with my brother, using the character editor to give ourselves as many Token of Absolutions as we want so we can fool around with the skill/stat builds.

I like some of the new balance patches and content put into D2 Resurrected (we both own it) but sadly there does not seem to be an option to coop play Resurrected with modded characters.

So is there perhaps a way to get the Resurrected balance changes and new stuff like runewords into the old Diablo 2 LOD that still can be played in coop with mods?

Thanks for helping out.

I’m afraid you’d have to mod that into the game. Maybe someone already did, so you could look on The Phrozen Keep or other places dedicated to mods.

BTW you can set a command line switch to enable infinite respecs from Akara I’m pretty sure, no editing in Token of Absolution required.

Yes unfortunately when D2R released the technical alpha, people apparently used the TCP/IP and/or open b.net functionality to crack open the whole game pretty much right away. So for open Beta and release version of D2R, that functionality was removed from the game, citing security reasons. Unfortunately it means playing D2R single player characters (which are able to be edited) with others is a no go, as well as playing any mods on multiplayer.

Yeah Johnson’s answer is all I can think of, you’d have to find someone that modded those changes and RW into the legacy game.

I did not know about this, thanks!
I will try to find a guide on how to do it.

I assume this only works on the classic D2 LoD and not on the D2 Resurrected?

I’m under the impression it works on both, but I don’t play SP enough to have ever done it.

Apparently it’s not through Akara after all, but requires pushing Alt while holding the spend stat point button for Strength, per this reddit post.

I think the legacy D2 LoD option was to simply add the “-enablerespec” argument at the end of the shortcut “target” properties, after the quotes.

Very awesome, thank you!

I really wish blizz made this work in multiplayer Resurrected, or just made the respecs free.

No

18 characters smh

respecs are free, you just have to kill some monsters :stuck_out_tongue: usually by the end of the season i have like 40-50 if i’m not giving them away like candy.

To enable infinite respecs in SP, the command line switch is -enablerespec. Then to execute the respec in-game, you hold Alt while clicking on +Stat button on the character stat screen.
