Respeccing Limitations (3 free?!)

Blizz…seriously.

Make respeccing as easy as it was in the original. Having to farm runes you can only get in higher levels is a joke.

Original you just clicked a button and you could respec, and try different builds. Now? I’m stuck until I clear an entire level and only get 3 respecs for free.

Ridiculous. Horrible change from the original game.

Just horrible.

3 free respecs.

After that it takes about 20 minutes to farm essences for a token.

Respecs are already super easy so long as you aren’t a lazy entitled child.

That has never been true, unless you were using PlugY or a similar mod.

Yes Blizz make it as easy as in the original…no respecs.

I came back to the game after 20 years, had no idea the respecs were limited, now I’m stuck with a build I want to change until I clear all the content on this level.

Yeah, lazy entitled child.

Are you kidding me?

It makes no sense to only have 1 respec per level, then require a grind. It’s a simple quality of life change.

The game originally had no respecs… Both the free Akara respecs and the ability to farm essences and create Tokens of Absolution came with patch 1.13.

Original you just clicked a button and you could respec, and try different builds.

Originally, you could never respec.

However, I would be open to Act 2, Quest 1 also providing a free respec, via Atma. This would make the total free respecs 6, which should be more than enough.

EDIT: However, adding more free respecs will decrease the value of the Token of Absolution, so it may not be wise to add anymore free respecs.

Well, in Baseball you can’t grind for another strike.

Og had no respecs. It was added later. Stop complaining.

This iteration of Diablo isn’t meant for you to freely switch your skills whenever you see fit. (outside of the three free respecs) It requires a bit of planning on your part to build a viable character.

i see no problem with the actual limitation on respecs

some things really need to change, this is not one of then

and look, im a “pro-change” guy

I played Diablo for years and quit before the essences and Quest respect was even implemented. I had over a dozen high level “mules” back in the day and you are complying about “only” 3 free respects along with an option to farm for more? I had a friend remake his level 90 for a single state point.

EDIT: However, adding more free respecs will decrease the value of the Token of Absolution, so it may not be wise to add anymore free respecs.

And when can you get the Token?

And when can you get the Token?

You can get it at any time, via Trade… or you can farm it once you are able to solo all act bosses in Hell.

All of this is freely available with a simple google search.

You should of posted that you are new up top. The easiest way is to trade for one, it will probobly cost you an Um rune.

IMO, this is what makes the game unnecessarily too “grind’y”. It makes no sense after you have put so much time and effort into a character to have to remake it just to optimize the build.

I see it as a quality of life change to be able to respec as needed, try different builds, experiment. You can do that in other games freely, why does this community think that it just “adds to the difficulty” of the game or removes the fun/challenge?

It’s a quality of life. Put restrictions on it so it can’t be abused in the middle of a game/run, but put it in the game.

Ppl give them away free all the time. I just gave two away last night to some sorcs who used up their last respec and were running my chaos/Baal games trying to level to put the point in teleport that they forgot lol

IMO, this is what makes the game unnecessarily too “grind’y”.

You just called a game that has odds worse than winning the Powerball… too grindy.

I don’t think this is the right game for you.

As I mentioned in one of my responses, I just came back to the game after a 20+ year absence. However, when I went into the Lobby to ask a question, etc in Trade, it was nothing but Spam Bots and I couldn’t get any response, because as soon as I posted a question, it was simply gone because of all the spam.

Just to give you a little context too, I’m level 20, with a Bowazon build I picked up from a guide (that claimed it was the best build for farming and clearing, which I’m now finding out is completely incorrect). So yeah, a little frustrated.

On top of that, I just watched a video on YouTube where a player is showing different builds for D2R, with Legacy graphics and he’s respeccing over and over as he’s demonstrating various tips and features.

It wouldn’t change the game a single whit, except allow players to experiment and use their time more wisely.
