REMOVED LAN Offline options "For What"?

This makes no since at all! This was a big part of OFFLINE in LoD!

I did this a lot with my son! Now that he has gotten back into D2
via Resurrected, I find out that this was removed! Why? Really makes
no since to take something that was there and working and remove it!
Not sure how negatively this had on the game to want to remove it!
So no offline playing with my son! Really really sad!

Great job!

Did you want to tell my son? I don’t!

TCP/IP was removed for “security reasons” (read: piracy concerns), most likely a decision made by the suits after what happened with the Tech Alpha. I miss it too and hope it comes back but it likely never will.

Q: Will TCP/IP support be available in the Early Access to Open Beta tests?

A: TCP/IP support will not be available in the upcoming Beta or the final game. After careful deliberation, we will no longer be supporting this option as we identified potential security risks and are committed to safeguarding the player experience.

TCP / IP Support

We initially announced the removal of TCP / IP support in our Beta blog, noting that this functionality would not be present in the Beta or in the final game. We want to take this time to share our insight on why we removed this feature. Following the Technical Alpha, we learned that this functionality was enabling significant security-related issues to our game. We’re aware that removing this feature adds a large hurdle for talented multiplayer modders in our community. Still, our priority is to keep this game’s ecosystem as secure as possible for all of our players.

Despite this change, a form of modding will still be possible. Players will have the ability to modify specific files which include adjusting values of skills, items, and more. However, keep in mind the Classic client of Diablo II will still exist and that is not going away. Multiplayer mods will still be able to exist and thrive on that platform by our community there.

Just play online and get a switch for you and your son. It was a better experience for my 13 year old than playing on the PC.

With the issues present and the total lack of development on Resurrected, I doubt I will spend anymore on this! 2 Switches and 2 more copies! No thank you!

I would consider it if they had plans to further develop it! But with no expansions, additional maps or adding new shrines and runewords! I think not!

Their plan is to put minimal resources on it and let it die! It is their loss! Sad to take a game that pretty much made the company! Na! Let it die and the community with it!

The LAN connectivity feature still exists in the original game.

TCP/IP connectivity is largely non-existent in modern games.

They already did add new runewords. The game’s barely 15 months old now and you’re going on about the sky falling? It’s getting continual development for the foreseeable future. Maybe not on a grand scale, but it’s something instead of nothing.

Yes it is minimal resources, the game doesn’t even cost $60 what you expect? Blizz is a business, d4 is where their developers are working. But d2r will still get 10000 x more updates and support than classic d2 will ever get.

If all you cared about before was to use hero editor and screw around on LAN with your friends then sure, new d2r sucks. But if you played legit, who gives a crap just play online. I happily bought 2 copies on PC and 2 on switch as it is still better than all other arpgs…
