Remove queue for offline authentication

When you freshly install game or didn’t login for a while game forces you to login to authenticate your D2R installation as anti piracy mechanic.

Those who want to only play offline should be able to authenticate without spending hours in queue so please at least do this.

press escape while in the queue for offline play, says on your screen when inside the queue

It doesn’t work that way if you didn’t login before. You get error that your game need to authenticate and kicks you back to queue. Then if you login, offline gets unlocked for 30 days or something.

So basically you want them to remove anti-piracy measures while there’s a queue?

No. I’m sure you can mange to actually log-in once every 30 days.

Try in the evening/night to get your verification in. That is the time that the queue is the shortest from my experience.

No, people shouldn’t wait in queue for online servers if they don’t even want to play on them. Authentication should work unrelated to queue.

Why do you think authentication exists for single player? It’s to determine whether or not you have a valid license for the game.

Remove authentication, you remove anti-piracy protection. It’s as simple as that.

Can’t you read or just trolling every post on forum? I don’t want to remove authentication just separate this system from queue.

Just because I disagree with you doesn’t mean I’m trolling you. Good lord.

You queue to authenticate
You authenticate to prove you have a valid license
You need a valid license to use the game

How hard is this to understand?

I think you don’t understand. I queue to play online servers. Offline is saved only on my PC so I’m not using any server space.

This is ALSO how you authenticate, broseph.

It isn’t going away.

Yes that’s why I proposed a change.

Because you say so?

i think you don’t understand the queue isn’t to play online it’s to log into the diablo 2 game servers.

The restrictions for playing online come after you login to the game servers when you have cooldowns on how fast you can join games.

Then it’s fine for you that players will just take queue place to authenticate making you wait longer then immidiately leave server for offline play.

yeah i don’t care why people are using the login servers no one has any more right than anyone else to log in as long as they payed for the game.

i do hope they can write some better code and remove the queues soon though because doesn’t everyone

Anyway I still believe it would be fair temporary solution for offline players that doesn’t use server space to be able to authenticate without waiting in queue.

The authentication is still a server request which is what they are trying to limit with the queue so I doubt they are going to change it until they get their code fixed.

A separate protocol and server for offline authos would be a plus.

so you think a “fair” temporary solution is for them to clone the d2r servers and run a 2nd copy of them so you don’t have to wait a few minutes once a month?

You wouldn’t have to clone anything, if you moved the protocol for the requests.

An authentication DB, with the server allotted to the cause.

This is a multi-billion dollar company, with an inventory for mitigating collapse.

One server, with what a few mil participants taking literal KB in space for account authentication data.

It really is that simple.
