I’m for it as well, I hate using the mouse button to move and my left hand for powers, just doesn’t feel right.
wHAT forum is this? Where am i
To Blizzard, this is the equivalent to a digital “Sahara”, or “Desert” which they pay for…
Thirsty?
I’m not sure how it’s redundant. Binding keys to movement is new functionality. If anything it’s an accessibility feature for left-handed (or one handed) players.
Redundant in the way that teleport is the main way to move lol its easier to tele press f1 f2 then wasd. Its easier to click and cycle skills. You can control the distance you teleport using a mouse
You can still do that. Using WASD to move doesn’t mean you aren’t using the mouse anymore. It means you can move and click at the same time instead of your clicks driving both your skills and your movement.
Do you hold down shift when you use abilities or individually click every target?
Is there any way to re-enable this while playing offline? I literally purchased D2R because I saw this feature was added.
I am waiting for wasd movement. I hope it comes back soon!
Somewhat related to wasd movement, but I just had my silliest hardcore death in D2R after launching it after playing PoE 2 for a while. I had gotten so used to the dodge roll in poe, that I lost a lvl 83 sorc from hitting space on reflex to try and roll out of a swarm of mobs. Heh.
This is a huge disappointment. Please tell me you will bring it back. It’s the one thing I miss from D2 atm. I keep trying modern arpg’s and coming back to D2 and every single time I go through that cycle I keep thinking I just want d2 with modern controls.
I really wanna play Diablo 2 but I always felt like my right side using the mouse to move was just wrong and my left side to use abilities was weird, is there any hope to bring back WASD movement?
I don’t think WASD is necessary in D2R, but it would be nice a feature to let players to choose from.
Blizzard devs should have focused on the suggestions that players have been making over the last 3 years and polished the game even better with little or some new content……although it seems impossible now. This game is pretty dead already.
Nope, it was patched out.
Why did this trigger you wanting to play? the cuurrent control scheme is just fine
Any word on when it’s coming back. I am really looking forward to playing d2 with a modern control scheme.

Well that’s a simple answer: I have played several games with a WASD control scheme and much prefer it over D2’s click to move. Other than that, D2 remains one of my favorite ways to pass time to this day. So I am excited about the idea of playing my favorite game with my prefered way to control it.
Honestly I just use an xbox controller to play D2 these days, it works really well, feels really good, if you’re just a filthy casual who only plays for fun and relaxation, it’s perfect. Obviously mouse+key is king, I won’t debate that. But if I’m just playing the game, controller works perfectly for sitting back and enjoying, especially once you “get used to it”
well yeah, so have I, but different control schemes work for different games. To be clear I think it’s a good thing to have these options, but I don’t really think it should have kept you from playing this lol
Plus, a controller has been an option since Ressurected, as well. Although aiming certain skills with controller isn’t the greatest.
The problem is that the way they implemented it was terrible. It wasn’t smooth wasd controls like poe2 and other games like that, they just made a really poor wasd turning and made it so hilariously bad that it not only broke the game in various ways, it also was awful to play. You couldn’t interact with anything in the ui while you were moving, and you had to physically stop moving to cast a spell (rather than the game automatically stopping your character when you cast)
Could be just a lazy implementation but it could also be that the way character movement works in d2r doesn’t translate that well to WASD (although considering the gamepad controls are good, I’m sure they could be implemented better than they were). Wasd movement games usually allow you to circle strafe, shoot while walking backwards, etc, and none of those things are possible in D2, so that makes it clunky at best for that kind of control scheme.
