Regarding macro clarification

been having a discussion with a few others, what qualifies as automation, and is a 2 button macro performing 1 single action considered automation, and is it against the ToS

example, shift+1 for merc potion use, 2 buttons 1 action performed

i can understand if its 1 button doing multiple actions like bo’ing, pre buffing and so on

So where do the merc potion macro lay in regards to the ToS and Macro/automation cheating??

Anything that enables automation or multiple keypresses with one button is a violation of the end user license agreement. This would include assigning a single button to press two or more buttons, such as shift+1 to give your merc a potion, or a timed sequence of buttons for example to switch weapons, cast battle orders and switch back. How strictly its enforced and their methods of detection are of course questionable. Long story short, if don’t want to risk account suspension or termination, avoid the use of any automation/macro software even if it’s specifically for your keyboard/mouse.

Section 1, C, ii

Now, what about a popsicle stick that makes 2 buttons on my keyboard go down at the same time?

Depends on the flavor

that still leaves the “cheats; i.e. methods not expressly authorized by Blizzard “ part

most keyboards used are built with macros installed, now the question is whether they will allow the use of shift+1, shift+2, shift+3 and so on, on a macro key

i would love a clarification by someone from the blizz team, saying Yes setting macro key to push 2 key strokes performing collectively 1 action per push is allowed
or no it is not allowed

cheats; i.e. methods not expressly authorized by Blizzard (whether accomplished using hardware, software, a combination thereof, or otherwise), influencing and/or facilitating gameplay, including exploits of any in-game bugs, and thereby granting you and/or any other user an advantage over other players not using such methods;

Macros provide an advantage over someone who doesn’t use or doesn’t have the capability of using them, so they are classified as a cheat.

Better question is when blizzard will add merc potions to the list of keybinds.

It’s clearly just an oversight, considering they added toggle show-items and quick-cast.

Even better option would be to bring back the old classic bugged eth armor from D2’s glory days (notice I said days and not hole, that is a different story). Remember having an eth Fortitude with 3k defense? we gotta party likes its 2009

This way ya don’t have to worry about health pots for your merc

its a generalized ToS for multiple games.

and despite you pointing out correctly the terms and what would be a fitting description, alot has changed over time, and i therefor ask for a clarification on the matter,

it might be about time for such a macro to be allowed or implementing a 1 button mercenary healing potion instead of a 2 button press to give healing potion
