I just made it to face off against Diablo and well he one shotted me and my merc lol I’ve been doing pretty well up until then. I’m a level 26 lightning sorc with the noteworthy gear is a Stealth and some set bone wand that gives me fcr but I wasn’t expecting him to put me down that fast.
You got this. Level 26 seems about right to fight diablo. For stats, if you’ve been following a guide, a majority of your stat points going into vitality should help you survive. You can always respec if you feel like you need to, which is going to Akara in act 1 and reset your stats and skills (however you can only do this once per difficulty for now).
Otherwise, for diablo, a lot of his attacks can be avoided. Don’t stand in melee range. Always move. Dodge his lightning. Your mercenary is going to die, let him.
You can also shop for items with fire resistance at vendors (boots, gloves, etc.). Or if you have some Ral runes, put them in a helm, shield or armor. Good luck !
let your merc tanks it for a few sec and melt it with a static field.
If the merc died, go back to town and rehire him.
repeat until it is low and finish him off. Most of boss fight is burning money.
Diablo on normal is probably the roughest boss fight in the game (with the possible exception of Duriel) for when you’re supposed to fight him.
As a sorc, invest 1 point in static field, and spam the hell out of it. Use cold spells if you have them to snare them, keep moving, and fire/lightning resist helps a ton.
Good luck!
He has always been clutch for my Hardcore melee runs and ended quite a few of them.
To a tee; Normal Diablo is the toughest fight of the game for an untwinked character, although the Hell Ancients make a strong argument, depending on the class.
I prefer to be level 30 when fighting Diablo, if you can stand grinding a few extra levels, but as others mentioned, Static Field is huge.
Where’s a good place to farm some levels at lvl 26?
probably either High Council at Travincal, or Beetleburst at Far Oasis wp
Clear Act 4 a few times until 30. Mostly though, you need to get your fire resist as high as you can. You can dodge everything else, but that fire nova can get ugly if he decides to spam it.
That’s about right. Diablo one shots melee characters too. Just fought him with a druid, over 500 life, and the red lightning killed me in the time it took for me to go through a single attack while frozen.
Keep portals open and buy a lot of potions. He shouldn’t be too bad as a sorceress because you hit 100% of the time, so don’t have to deal with missing several attacks in a row due to his armor, plus you’ll be doing more damage. Keep your distance and just watch out for him begining his lightning attack. Move and only cast when it is safe. Stamina potions might help. It’ll just take awhile. It’s significantly easier with fire skills, so respec is always an option.
Killed diablo today in about 10 seconds by getting up next to him for a couple seconds with static field then just finishing him off with my main skill (blizzard/ice blast in my case). Static field is pure boss cheese for the sorc, abuse it to the fullest.
Yeah he’s a rough fight. My suggestion is level 26-27, with 25+ fire and lightning resist. Use an a2 merc and give em gear to survive, and yes, static shock the heck out of him.
When fought D on my necro, I had to portal out and get fresh minions 8 times to kill cause he would just mass kill them so often.
Taking a look at some low level runewords can also give you a small boost, some countess runs should supply you with enough runes
Yeah I’m in hardcore mode and Duriel was definitely the closest I have come to death yet. I didn’t expect to see him there when I went in the tomb LMAO.
I’m a level 26 Assassin/fire trap and I have Diablo coming up so I came here for strategy.
Related: I forgot how terrible the vendor loot tables are. I’m in act IV and its like “hey, here’s this level 9 gear you can buy”.
Gee, thanks for nothing.
I have a lvl 35 sorc that’s more of a jack of all trades, heavily leaning towards fire, due to a Leaf staff and plenty of points into fireball and fire mastery. Static Field seems like a great way to go (helped me with Mephisto before I cheesed from the opposite corner with fireball), but I’m considering a re-spec for more points into Teleport (the mana cost is killing me). The barb I used to defeat him, on the other hand, was melee two-handed with lots of points in Bash and some in Iron Skin and Natural Resistance. For me, Stamina Potions were friend (talking about the barb again)! If you survived Duriel, you can survive Diablo, given more room to move and teleport out of lightning and fire nova range.
You’re a lightning sorc? Then you must have teleport and static field. Static field him then teleport away. Do this until he’s almost dead, then switch to lightning bolting him from across the screen. If he charges you, teleport behind him. You completely outrange him. The only thing he might be able to hit you with is the fire explosion. Just make sure you have some fire resist and you’ll be fine. It’s a bit tedious, because he has so many HP, but if you can static field that away, it’ll make a big difference.
