Recently updated and recieved the Initialization Error

Hi,

I have recently updated my D2R to the latest version in BNet and now my game won’t start. Every time I tried to run the game, I get the error “Initialization Error: Failed to initialize data (corrupted?). Error Code: 1.”

I reached out to tech support and GM Suhodihu basically told me to run as admin which I was already doing already. They also gave me a link to an blank page stating that my account has been “temporarily Restricted”.

None of these explanations make any sense to me so I am reaching out to see if anyone has any solutions. I have seen the fix for the steam version from April 1 but other than that, I have not come across anyone with this issue on BNet launcher for PC. The version my game is on is currently 3.2.92777. I have tried reinstalling and checking for updates as well as scan and repair. My version is detected to be the latest and scan came back negative for errors.

I am having same issues with game failing to launch from Steam Library

I tried all recommended steps and still not working, now the error code is

9505D118-4672-44BD-BD57-4F800955F000

But it keeps changing

Game was working perfectly last evening then all the sudden crashed and now it says that 70 files are damaged and will be restored but nothing happen7change

Are you only playing online? Are you doing or playing any modding for offline characters?

Sounds like game file corruption. Try this:

  1. Open folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Diablo II Resurrected\Data\data
  2. Delete all .IDX files in that folder
  3. Open Battle Net Launcher
  4. Click on the Gear in your D2R tab
  5. Select “Scan and Repair”

The game will now truely check all data files for corrupted content, replace it by re-downloading it and rebuild all .IDX files. It might take a while, depending on how much needs to be re-downloaded, but once done the game files are back in good condition.

I have updated D2R: RotW today, after taking a break from the game for several months, and now the game will simply not start. I am getting the same error in a small window:

Initialization Error: Failed to initialize data (corrupted?).
Error Code: 1

I have uninstalled, reinstalled, scan&repaired, deleted .idx files and scanned and repaired again, ran as admin, nothing seems to work.

This is silly.

Any help would be appreciated.
