So it’s been a while since I’ve had a character to play in hell diff. I’m starting to see rares and uniques with more than one socket drop. I always thought rares were limited to one.
No, magical, rares, and uniques can have multiple sockets. They just can’t have runewords in them.
And socket quest still only allows one to rares & uniques?
I only know about uniques there, as I’ve never bothered to try to socket a rare item before, but yes, if you bring a unique to Larzuk to socket, it will only give you 1 socket. However, there are certain unique items that can drop with multiple sockets, for example the Bonehew or Crown of Ages (random 1-2).

Pretty sure as far as the Larzuk quest reward, you can get random number of sockets in white items based on the inherent treasure class , 1-2 sockets in magical (blue) items, and 1 for everything else (rare, set, crafted, unique). Also you can’t add sockets to socketed items.

I’m pretty sure larzuk gives you MAX sockets.
Posted above, it is UNTRUE that he gives random sockets for white items. The max number of sockets does depend on item level though.

Yep, so if you find a white monarch he’ll turn it into a 4os monarch for you, did that myself to get a spirit for my sorc.
I did not know that, I guess it’s because I’ve only used the quest on white items like twice.
Some set/rare/unique items have multiple sockets as part of their magical effects. This is normal.
Socket quest is still locked at one for items with magical properties.
Are you sure you can’t get 2 in a rare high lvl circlet?
If it is from the socket quest, no you can only get 1.
You can get more than 1 if it is a socket property on the circlet though.
