Hi guys,
im having a sound issue during playing D2R. Whenever i play, i get random loud “static noise” happening from time to time, generally every few minutes. It affects every sound currently being played (not only ingame sounds, but for example currently playing videos on Youtube or a Twitch stream), usually stops by itself in a short while.
I also found out i can make the noise stop by switching my sound output device in windows sound settings and then switching back again. For example im using headphones, noise appears so i switch to speakers which makes the noise stop and then i switch back to my headphones (because thats the output device i want to use) and its fine for a while before the noise appears again.
The issue appears on multiple different output devices - i tried using both speakers and headphones, didnt make a difference. It also only happens while playing D2R, no other game. I tried getting latest Windows updates and the “Scan and repair” option in the BNet launcher, didnt help.
Does anyone experience the same issues or have any tips on how to prevent this from happening? I love D2 its been one of my favourite games for long years, but this sound problem is really killing it for me, please help.
System specs:
OS: Windows 10 Pro, version 22H2
CPU: 12th Gen Intel(R) Core™ i7-12700F 2.10 GHz
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070
RAM: 32GB
EDIT: Added my system specs. If theres any information that might help solve the issue please let me know, ill do my best to provide it
EDIT2: Also i remember reading somewhere here on forums the ASUS Armoury Crate might have something to do with sound bugs, i do have it installed. Could it be part of the problem?
EDIT3 (and probably the solution to this problem): WIRELESS HEADPHONES. Ive had this issue for a long time now, but recently my Koss headphones stopped working so i just went to buy another ones as usual, but this time i went for the wireless ones. To my surprise when i launch D2R, the static noise is completely gone, no audio lag, nothing. So im guessing that the game has an issue with some piece of hardware in my PC and the headphones using bluetooth instead of regular cable connection somehow goes around that issue. Give it a try, i hope it helps!
