Random crashing to desktop

Hi, this has been occurring for some time now. I’m leaving my hardware information & event error log in hopes that someone may be able to guide me towards a fix. I’ve already attempted to fully update Windows, hardware drivers, BIOS firmware, verifying game cache integrity, and scanned my PC using CHKDSK, SFC, and Windows 10’s built-in memory diagnostics.

Thank you for any help, as I’ve been more or less unable to play since launch, and none of my hardware is over 4-5 years old.

Edit: Text cleanup for legibility.

Same here, like a lot of others. Still waiting for a fix … We may have to wait a long time

yes faulty product that is for sure

Underclock your GPU core by 50 - 80 (Frequency each state) or more. The problem is it overworks your GPU as I have read in an article. I tried everything else but this works!

Can you give me your source ?

I’m sorry, but I’m not going to stunt the performance of my 4-5 year old computer in order to play a brand new game.

Dude you just underclock it. It doesnt do anything to your gpu

So I found a fix that doesn’t involve handicapping my PC. Despite what the other poster said, underclocking does do something to your GPU.

I simply turned the visuals/graphics down to the very lowest possible, and I’ve been playing without issue since.

Kind of ridiculous given my hardware specs - hopefully Blizzard can fix this long term.

I’ve found that the newer nvidia drivers are prone to crashing with those same errors for me (D3DDRED… and yea I know… 472.12 is the Diablo driver so it’s weird). For reference, I’m using a 3080 with 461.72 driver and not having these crashes.

I just updated my Nvidia Drivers today to 496.13 and have been crashing now every 10-15 minutes to desktop. I wasn’t having any issues until then.

Drivers problems or not, they need to fix this as it happens to EVERYONE.
Rolling back drivers shouldn’t be the only way to prevent those crashes as some of us cannot rollback as other games requires the latest drivers to be played.

I’m going to give this driver a try.

So far I’ve tried 496.13, 471.96, and 465.89 And I’ve gotten crashes every 3 to 5 minutes. I’ve even played in the old school legacy graphics and it still crashes. I’ve even tried underlocking my 3090 from 2000mhz down to 900mhz Over a 50% underclock and still no luck.

Changed to 472.12 and now the crashing is somehow even worse. Every 2 to 3 minutes a hard crash straight to desktop with no information given.

I was having problems since day 1, several crashes until a point that i can play for 1-2 hours, and then the cycle starts again.

Well i’ve fixed my problem, here’s how:
Save your files and format your driver to do a clean windows install, after all drivers and windows updates are instaled you are done, enjoy D2 Ressurected.
