Quick question about WW barbs

I’m planning on switching my barb from frenzy to WW to try it out. I would like to rock ebotd and edeath.

Since I already have Death in Eth colossus blade, I’d prefer to make ebotd in a colossus blade also, but I only see people making it in BA. Is there a reason why it’s better to make the runeword in a BA and not a CB? Or it can come down to personnal preference?

Thx!

i do believe the answer has to do with speed.BA hits for less then CB, but it hits more often.

Grief BA require less IAS than CB to hit ww breakpoint . 34 IAS vs 39 .
BA has higher base damage (

Why do people use CB ? Because it cool looking and you can see the whirlwind range better than zerker visually when dueling in PVP which is an advantage . Also you won’t have to look like any other char such as pally because they use the same zerker one hand .

Alright, thx a lot for the info to both of you! Is grief mandatory for WW? or my idea to go with ebotd and death is a viable alternative even if not optimal?

I’m noob but I think grief is strongest overall because the +300 dmg is probably applied to the minimum dmg also not just your max, which means your guaranteed dmg is much higher compared to just +400% of 40 min dmg with ebotd, or 200+ minimum dmg which is really low compared to grief’s +300 minimum. Ebotdz’s max is higher but there is a catch. If you just keep increasing max dmg only, you playing the lottery like lightning sorc/javazon with 1-10000 dmg range hoping you hit the max dmg. Increasing max is mainly for ranged pvp, not pve, because you can spam more shots/hits safer than a barb and hopefully one shot someone randomly.

For any breakpoint in the game, it doesn’t scale linearly most of the time (20% faster cast rate from gear isn’t necessarily 20% observed in the spell cast). It’s all about reaching a specific threshold/breakpoint number (don’t need to be over it, exact is all you need). You can check the ias breakpoint calculator on the external link that Wowhead’s website has. Ww is more unique because the ias requirement can only be affected by the wep base and runeword/magic/unique bonus stats (nothing else from gear, like a highlord ammy’s ias doesn’t count towards ww but does towards berzerk). That is why you see 30-40 ias ranges of grief in trades, and specific weapon bases. Z and CB the only two weapons that can reach max ww breakpoint AND have melee range of 3 (pb is 2 i think). For Z is 34 and CB is 39 to get max ww speed breakpoint, regardless of grief or ebotdz. CB is more awesome but insanely expensive, at least +15 bers for a 390-39 cb grief.

The difference in attacks per second of the max ww vs the lower breakpoint is 50%, which is huge.

There is one more important thing about grief that ebotd doesn’t have, it is “ignore target defense”. You don’t need attack rating to hit regular councils most of the time, you may miss more on the superuniques but still outweighs any benefit from ebotd. Missing an attack is legit -100% dmg, that alone is the main reason to go for grief for pvm.

I agree that pb is good for not repairing to spam more travs, but i usually have to go back to town by the time i repair my Zs anyway because of my cube being full of gems, jewels, charms, and items. Also my bag gets filled with gold by that time. The repairs do add 10-20s to one of your travs but that’s miniscule when you consider it happens after like 8-10 runs for me (i’m not a gambler, i only have ali babas for bonus gold).

Grief is Mando

Unless you got some GG rares ba or cb which is nearly impossible to find .

The easy answer to your question is no grief is not mandatory. You can still do pvm and have fun using ebotd and edeath. Is it as good as grief? No. But it still works fine. Some ppl do it just to escape from “GRIEF ONLY” meta. Esp if youre going to play on players 1-3 the dmg is essentially the same.

If youre doing pvp then yeah you need at least 1 grief

Alright, so its dual grief or bust, got it! Also, any reason why phase blades are not considered?

Yeah, I was gonna PvM for now, but might try out PvP later. I think I’ll just craft/buy all of them and have fun switching to test things out!

Grief PB only useful for PVM because no repairs needed

CB and BA is for PVP due to longer ranges to hit for WW and also doesn’t look like no cheap plastic swords like PB you get from Walmart
