So now I have beaten the game with my Amazon, there are only 2 classes (assa / Necro) which I haven’t played yet.
I didn’t decide which I’m going to gear up and play first.
So my question is, what melee assassin is the best to build (just for pvm p1)? What endgame gear I must have? (I know lightning sentry is stronger, but the playstyle doesn’t suit me).
As for Necro… What options do I have? If I don’t want to play summoner. Is poison necro the strongest?
I never played, but saw some videos.
Poison Necro with corpse explosion is so Strong for pvm! All you have to do is to kill one monster with your poison nova
Northforce built an assassin with some mix of traps & Martial arts that looked pretty strong over cows.
I’m curious to. And I’m sure I got amulets for you whatever you decide lol.
Bone Spear is stronger for clearing the game and leveling, Poison is better with End Game stuff by far. A Naked summoner can beat the game and is still very strong at end game, although not super fast.
I honestly don’t recommend melee Assassin for leveling, but you do you. It can do ok with gear after you level up.
If you don’t plan on twinking them, I’d level Summoner and Traps.
Poison necro is a a lot of fun - and agreed with above I started as bone and re-spec at lvl 30-35 range when leveling otherwise it’s a real pain. Make sure you get Dweb if you go the poison route - completely makes the build.
My poison necro was my first necro build ever including back in the day when I played and is probs my fav class as of right now.
Bone nec is good in 1-2pp games. He can easily finish all quest and do solo mf in all maps, including cows, a1 pit, chaos, baal and trav run. The efficiency isn’t high since it is low pp game.
As to sin, martial sin (element or dragon tail) is fancy to play before hell. Once in hell, the damage isn’t good and pass all quest will be challenging (kicksin is also nerfed). So if you want, you can start martial and then switch to trap for lvl up and mf. Currently I am working on a throwing sin and let’s see how she plays.
can share 2 of my nec play before with you. Not the best but its something i enjoy playing since 20 years back my 1st and most played character is a nec.
First of all, thanks everyone for your replies.
Poison necro seems pretty strong and fun, so I’ll probably go that route (but I’ll probably include corpse explosion to speed things up).
The hunt for a ‘cheap’ Deaths Web is on lol.
I’ve looked up brand necro too @touloumotyri, but it’s so obscure, can’t find a good gameplay video of it.
Thanks for the videos @ Burito, great help as always.
For assassin it seems that eventually I have to use traps?
There is no build that’s just kicking the sht out of the mons that is viable (and relativity easy) for hell difficulty?
I’m an assassin main - there are 4.5 different builds that I play that are capable (though for different purposes)
1(and the .5) is the trapper build that you mentioned that doesn’t match your playstyle (one is the lightning build the other is fire, lightning is “better” for most things)
2 the phoenix martial arts - this one is probably the one most are mentioning - it can do any and everything because you are dealing 5 types of damage, fire, light, ice, physical, and poison - its biggest problem is charging up its major attacks before discharging them with a single kick. But overall it is a lot of fun and can play a lot different than most other classes (as people mentioned, it can have issues gear wise due to its relatively low survival without major gear)
3 the kicker - this build imo is hilariously strong for how cheap you can build it. Mine has most expensive item being like… value of um because that’s what I put in the socket ha. Its biggest downside is that it kills 1 target at a time (unless you use Rift which gives you some aoe with its on hit effects) You can also build it for ubers with relative ease.
4 Blades of Fury is the last build… which imo is more of an… assassin specialist build haha, because it is just… different without being super effective for most things. It is sort of similar to a strafe amazon as you channel your attack (except blades of fury you don’t have to stop channeling) and you can’t move while channeling. Blades of fury has the down side of not being able to pierce though (I keep hoping they will allow the piercing items to enable it to pierce, which would do a LOT for the build). So you can rip through single targets from a range, but once again it is 1 target at a time and you can’t move while channeling, so it is not popular.
If you would like to see how each build plays - let me know and I can join you in a game.
this is one of those things that has a lot of different answers depending on what you mean, and also on how much time you want to spend chasing the perfect gear. martial arts assassin is my favorite build in the game, and it can kill ANYTHING, if you have the patience.
Phoenix strike can deal all three elements of damage, and kicks and claws can deal physical. So you ALWAYS have tools do bring the pain. the problem is, the base damage of claws is very low, and you have to get in close to build up charges. another problem is the assassin’s class armor runeword, treachery. it’s literally the worst runeword for an assassin to use.
MA assassin feels very squishy until you are able to start stacking damage reduction(verdungo’s, string of ears, a few other pieces), unless you run with a shield which is less fun than dual claw.
the advantages though are extremely fun. you can get a form of teleport with the skill Dragon Flight. it’s not for zipping around like a sorc or with enigma, but i use it to keep from getting surrounded. you can teleport to any enemy in range and deliver a kick that also uses built up charges from your martial arts. this lets me blip around the outside of packs after they all converge, and deliver stuff like a 3 charge phoenix strike which freezes everything, or hit them with other elemental attacks, while never letting them pin me down.
it’s fun, but it’ll never be as fast as the hammerdins and the blizz sorcs and the javazons.
Thank you for your detailed breakdown (this also applies to Eithris!)!
I’m looking forward to building a completely new char and master the playstyle.
This is going to take some time I guess, but I find this one of the most enjoyable things to do.
Is kicks in still playable? Now the kick can be missed and I had a hard time to kill the hell baal. I tried but she totally failed the last 3 boss in Uber run.
I haven’t had any issues with it at least - my AR is at 15k and I haven’t tried to stack it that heavily. If you try you can probably get your AR up over 20k pretty easily which should be sufficient for ubers.
Suggest do a summon necromancer .
Strong or not strong is not a problem since I don’t think the cleaning speed for a necro can match a LF Amazon or lighting sorcerer anyway.
What you need is some class specific build which bring you some totally new experience and i think build a skeleton army is very unique indeed.
Finally finished the throwing sin and test her with uber runs.
It is super fun and I am surprised with the damage she can do with Blade Fury. I used 2 Angelic Rings and 1 Angelic Ammy to increase the AR. And I feel both obedience (Enchant when kill) and Death (Enchant with Demon Limb) are capable to finish the job. With Death set, I can get 100% CB and 74% DS (at lvl 89).
PS: the extra AR with Enchant is only necessary with the final Baal.
