I am pretty new to crafting. My sorc is lvl 91, and from what I am seeing I need to be lvl 93 to gamble amulets that can produce up to +2 skills I believe? If I run, say a terrorized Andy and she drops a blue ammy, that would be ilvl 93 right, which would give me the up to +2 skills?
Also wondering if it matters which magic jewel I use/ilvl or not, and do I need to craft in Hell? Again, very new, just wondering before I decide to roll a bunch of my mats. Any help appreciated and thanks
It doesn’t matter which kind of jewel you use. By the way, you could also use a rare jewel, doesn’t have to be magic.
The difficulty setting doesn’t matter either.
At char lvl 91, TZ Andy will be lvl 96 (5 above you, to a max of 99). Not sure about the lvl of the ammy though, I’ll let someone else answer that.
Gambling: The ilvl of the item is randomly set in a 10 lvl corridor, so you can get +2 even earlier, but it’s less likely. Again, other shall chime in.

Thank you. I wanted to also ask does it matter which difficulty you UNID items in? Afaik, when an item drops, the stats are rolled. But after farming NM Andy for awhile, I wanted to know if it mattered which diff I Unid’d them in for a chance at Soj, or if it even rolls once you unid them. Again, not sure. I haven’t played in so long I forget so much, again anything helps, thank you <3
The item has already been assigned an ID once dropped. So if it is supposed to be a Stone of Jordan, it won’t matter when or where you identify it.
Regarding the iLvl of the amulet - a character level 93 is advised to always guarantee you have the chance at +2 skills and double faster cast rolls. That is because most people gamble the amulet, and when you gamble it’s +/- 5 levels. If you are 93, then even the lowest possible ilvl you get will still net the potential for the desired outcome.
I think if you are in a TZ with lvl 93, I believe you can pickup any magic amulets, but I’d like someone to confirm that.
Edit: I believe you can even use lower level TZ amulets… I think as long as the TZ is 88+? Don’t have the time for research, so please someone confirm.

In order for a crafted amulet to get the [+2 to class skill] mod it must have an item level (ilvl) of 90 or higher. The ilvl of the crafted amulet is determined by this formula:
ilvl = A + B where:
-
ilvl is the item level of the crafted amulet.
-
A is the level of your character that tries to craft divided by two and rounded down. So in your case for a level 91 character, A would be 91/2=45,5 and since it is rounded down A=45.
-
B is the item level of the amulet you use for ingredient divided by 2 and rounded down. So for an amulet that has ilvl=91, B would be 91/2 = 45,5 and since it is rounded down B=45.
These are the only two factors that matter. So in this case since A=45 and B=45, their sum is 90 which is exactly the required threshold, thus you have a chance to get the [+2 to class skill] mod on your crafted item.
When you gamble, the ilvl of the items you get can be between [clvl-5,clvl+4]. So as a character of 91 lvl you can gamble items that can be between 86 and 95 ilvl.
The reason you need to be lvl 93 or higher is because you can gamble items with ilvl between 88 and 97. So even if you get an item with the lowest ilvl of 88, since your char is 93, by using the formula above, the crafted amulet will always have an ilvl of at least 90 and thus you will always have a chance to get the [+2 to class skill] mod. However if you were 92 lvl the gambled item could have a minimum ilvl of 87 so you would get A=46 and B=43 and the resulting item would have ilvl=89 which is lower than 90 and that would exclude the [+2 to class skill] mod from rolling.
Now regarding terrorized zones… The monsters are always 2 levels higher than your character level, up to a cap depending on difficulty. The caps are lvl 45 for normal, 71 for nightmare and 96 for hell. That is for the standard monsters. Champion monsters are 4 levels higher than you with the caps for them being 47, 73 and 98 for normal, nightmare and hell difficulties respectively. The unique monsters like Andariel and Mephisto have levels that are 5 higher than yours and their caps are 48, 74 and 99 respectively.
So in your case (clvl=91) if your goal is to roll a [+2 to class skill] amulet, any amulet found in a terrorized zone that is lvl 90 or higher will always be able to roll that mod since in general the ilvl of an item is equal to the level of the monster that dropped it.
Keep in mind that this formula is only for crafting amulets. If you want to make something else the result is determined through a different formula. For example if you are rerolling a grand charm using 3 p. gems, the result will always have the same item level as the one you are rerolling and your character level is not taken into account.
Hope that helps a bit.
