How do you allow a player to play a long-paid game in online form? I don’t know why I should pay for a paid game again just to add one more character. Access to the old characters should be normally accessible. Or will you refund our money?
What are you talking about? You dont have to pay for same game if you already have the D2R. You dont want dlc? Fine, nobody is forcing you.
So you want all the updates (not only the character) for free?
This is a DLC.
I mean, when I turned it on yesterday, clicked on online and wanted to create any character, it forwarded me to payment. surely there will be more people who have more acc so they will have to pay separately for each acc?
You can access all of your old chars.
People fail to realize what’s coming.. they just paid for the update they have been waiting 25 years for.
Blizzard just made the game “Pay to play with others”
If you don’t pay, you can play the dead empty servers. Each “update" now could easily be another new pay wall separating the community. Now that some have their extra stash QoL, they may not continue to get every new DLC or may not like the next DLC or changes but your forced to follow the player base.
People have blinders on cause they see new and shiney, Blizzard loves me so take my money feelings. This is a bad thing and the beginning of the end for D2R imo
So sick of seeing peoples’ alts commenting the same crap as their main.
HOW MANY COPIES DID SOME OF YOU PEOPLE BUY??? And you’re complaining about paying an extra $30-$40 for a new update. Blows my mind.
I mean, they are supporting the game by creating new content and adding QoL’s. We’re also supporting their work. Good for us and for the company; where is the problem?
Sounds like you tried to create a Warlock. That’s a new DLC, thus has to be purchased.
Hey just wait, blizzards next game they gonna start charging 29.99 for sound and color.
i dont care much. had d2r on bnet and now bought it on steam with warlock update again.
- i hope it helps keep d2r alive and new updates in future
- steam achievements
- steamdeck (yes i know u can already install bnet and d2r but its much cleaner just via steam)
- i only play d2r so i dont want to need the bnet launcher (its a 1 time login and linking steam thats it)
those where my thoughts about. still one of my fav. game right now and back in days.
You are paying for the QoL changes and the additional content in the form of Warlock class and new associated items. If that is worth the money to you, then you pay for it. If it’s not, you don’t pay for it and continue to play D2R as it was before the RotW launch.
Just like any other thing. Blizzard is offering content for a price. If that content is worth the price to you, you buy it. if it’s not, you don’t.
Exactly the same for me here.
I want to support the game. D2R must generate some sort of profit in order to allow further content updates. This dlc was done pretty good. Sure there is potential, but without some money flow, the gate would have remained closed.
you dont have to, the game is still in your game library, if you want to play the expansion, you have to pay for the expansion. What an entitled brat
The implication here being, if i don’t pay, then i play on dead empty servers, which implies that tons of people bought the thing and are playing it, because they like it.
Wasn’t that SC Cartooned?
I think a lot of people have a reasonable, capitalist view of paying for new new content. I don’t think it’s fair to assume anyone willing to pay for new content is “failing to realize” anything or having “blinders on.” That’s you projecting your frustration onto others who aren’t frustrated by the same things you are. We aren’t less observant than you or inferior in any way, we just have no problem with the system you seem to hate.
Even though your argument mostly fails on it’s attempt to minimize the intelligence of people who think differently to explain your perspectives, it completely falls apart on a statement like “If you don’t pay, you can play the dead empty servers” because it implies there isn’t an option only because you admittedly think 99.99% of the player base would prefer to pay for the new content than to stay in the stagnant version of the game.
That is a choice, one that you know that the vast majority of the player base would happily make in support of more content, yet you argue it like it’s something a lot of people wouldn’t make. That, or you genuinely think the best business model is paying people to make things that you give away for free. If paying nothing and getting nothing was truly an attractive option, dead servers wouldn’t even be part of the conversation. We are voting with our dollars, please don’t try to put us down to try to make your argument sound valid.
The update I’ve been personally waiting on for 25 years is paying what I paid for LOD for yet another act and 2 new characters, and some new items/content. I’m absolutely willing to pay less than what I paid for LOD (especially factoring inflation) for at least some of that content. It’s half way to what I really want, instead of no progress towards it. I’ll take it!
I mean, sure, if you’re Concerned Ape and develop new content for a game you made yourself that made you a multimillionaire… you can make updates every couple of years and not charge anything. If you are a gaming company that needs revenue to pay the people making/maintaining the new stuff in your game, it’s not as easy to succeed as you seem to be implying to continue development at no charge.
might of been can’t remember, prob where i got the idea so fast lol
You people think you’re so smart, holy crap. In order to play the new thing, you have to pay NOWAY MAN, GENIUS.
This is how games have always worked genius!! expansion has been a concept since the 90s.
Where did this mentality come from? The over the top levels of entitlement are so bizarre.
