Question regarding main hand/off hand

Let me see if I understand this. The first weapon you equip, regardless of which hand, is main hand, right? So if you need an attribute bonus from the intended off-hand in order to equip your intended mainhand, then you’re stuck with the off-hand as your mainhand unless or until you get the attributes you need from other sources?

So I have a grief/phaseblade I want for main, and a lawbringer/balrog blade I want for the off-hand, but I need the +10 dex from the lawbringer to even equip the grief. So for now, I’m screwed, right?

MH//OH dont make a difference for D2(only exceptions is kicker if they use dual claw for some strange reason(which they should not to begin with)

at least never heard of that mattering on D2…i know its a thing on WoW where weap speed affect MH//OH…but for D2…your the first person i meet that think it matter

I thought the mainhand weapon is what determines your attack speed for frenzy. And the speed of the off-hand is not used at all. It’s why you want your mainhand on a phaseblade. Or I am incorrect about that?

Diablo ias calculator site indicate that OH weap speed doesn’t affect frenzy attack speed(i was slightly unsure so i went to confirm)…so basicly i was wrong

so in that case then that mean you cant rely on lawbringer +dex and have to put raw point in dex//get from a different source of gear

but ya…thats the first i hear about it though…Frenzy wasn’t really play much back in the old days…at least never got to see anyone playing it…everyone were ww…so information were likely not too well known and never reached my ears back then

EDIT: for your question you can probably google it up…thats something i haven’t research since i never had to bother with it

google: “Diablo 2 what determine which is the main hand ?”

Thanks. I think I’m going to go trade a couple runes for a couple +5 dex charms. I already have all my dex charms in the pack and I’m still short 10 dex.

I knew something was wrong when I equipped the grief/pb and I didn’t seem to be attacking any faster than with the old mainhand weapon.

I think frenzy barb is a popular build these days. One guy on youtube has it ranked as 2nd best build for ubering after the smite pally.

Why shouldn’t I use shadow killer+ jade talon and be benefited from weapon block?

you would not use claws as a kicker except in pvp vs casters(double Chaos Claw for Orb procs + high magic dmg)…or Chaos + jade for mix dmg//resists

i was speaking from a pve point of view though
Lawbringer//Rift + SS for PVE
