Question about Merc stats (colors) while swapping weapons

So I have Tylena (Lvl 80 Rogue) that ive kept with me since Normal Mode. I am now in Hell Act 2. I currently Have a Magic Merciless Gothic Bow of Lightning that sets her stats to:

Life: 1308 (PURPLE)
Str: 140 (PURPLE)
Dex: 206 (PURPLE)
Dmg: 160-401 (YELLOW)
Dfs: 1799 (PURPLE)
FireRes: 37 (WHITE)
ColRes: 54 (PURPLE)
LighRes: 37 (WHITE)
PoiRes: 37 (WHITE)

I found a Rare Death Needle Diamond Bow that sets stats to:

Life: 1308 (PURPLE)
Str: 140 (PURPLE)
Dex: 206 (PURPLE)
Dmg: 419-520 (WHITE)
Dfs: 1799 (PURPLE)
FireRes: 37 (WHITE)
ColRes: 54 (PURPLE)
LighRes: 47 (PURPLE)
PoiRes: 37 (WHITE)

I dont know which is best? I typically keep the colored numbers that are the highest amount of damage but also the least amount of “gap” between the numbers, knowing theres a better hit chance. (419-520 is ALOT better than 160-401), but my question is, does color effect this? I dont want to sell the wrong item. Any info on color would be awesome (Newbie to Hell) Thanks :grimacing:

Yellow damage just means there is lightning damage included. Blue would be cold and green would be poison. White is physical only. I would use the second bow.

The purple colour is blue. (I believe)

Your viewing device may need a colour correction because it’s supposed to be a blue. We know that health potions are red and mana is blue. Pick up a mana potion and hold it next to your merc stat. Sometimes (most times being fair) the accuracy of colour is not uniform accross the screen. Even OLED desplays can burn out (wear out) in a non-uniform way.

Some would argue the Devs are bordering on lavender in how they softened down the blue. If my memory is correct it has been blue in D2 and the same thing was true in D1 stat boxs :thinking:

I just assumed purple was magic :open_mouth:, its been years playing on PC, playing the xbox version now. Double checking, my mana potions are blue but my stats show more purple. That is soo odd. Im going to play with my screen color options on my tv and see if that corrects it.

Thanks for that info. That just blew my mind LOL (if im able to correct it the blue is going to throw me off for quite awhile hahaha)

You have quite the eye for colour. I’d say you have a talent for it because even on my screen it is very close to purple.

I’d have never noticed.
