Hello everyone. I just found a Long War bow with 5 sockets. I don’t have a Cham or a Gul to make a Mist runeword, probably never will have. I play offline SSF and don’t trade.
How can I improve this bow to do more damage.
I also have one of each perfect gem and a couple perfect skulls.
I have a lot of other quesitons and was wondering if its ok to ask more than one question per post/topic. Thanks for any help.
Hello. So we can help you, how far has your character progressed into the game?
I have just entered Act II. Am beginning chapter 1, killing Radament in Lut Gholein in Hell level. I really struggled in Act I Hell, it seems I’m doing barely any damage.
Right now the best bow I have uses an Insight runeword in a Blade bow that does 79 to 137 damage according to the inventory screen. I’m following as closely as possible a fire and ice bowazon from icyveins website.
Can you share a bit more like, what are your main skills you’re using (freezing arrow, exploding arrow or multishot)?, your final damage numbers and “chance to hit” values are? How much dexterity do you have?
With the fire & ice bowazon I’m using immolation arrow on the LMB 20 points and freezing arrow on the RMB 20 points, along with putting points in Valkyrie. I use Decoy with a point or two I forget what the build calls for, a few points in Pierce, I use Inner Sight but haven’t put points into it other than as a pre-requisite to advance up the skill tree.
Dexterity is 159 base 180 total. Vitality is 166 base 176 total. Strength is 110 base 119 total. Immolation attack rating is 3867 Freezing Arrow attack rating is 3982. Defense is 774. When I hove over defense it says “avergae chance fallen will hit you: 72%”.
I don’t know what the chance to hit is. I don’t know what that is, sorry. I’m not that educated in this game. I’m trying to follow as closely as possible the fire and ice build from icyveins website, so if it says to put two points into a certain skill that’s what I’m doing. thanks.
When you hover over your attack rating, it will say something like “chance to hit fallen: x%”.
For the skills you have, your bow’s damage doesn’t matter, instead you want to stack +bow skills from your items somehow. Look at the runeword “Melody” that uses Shael, Ko, Nef. This grants +3 bow skills. Put these runes into a 4 socket Ashwood or Matriarchal bow that itself has +3 bow skills for +6 bow skills in total.

I also assume you have points into cold arrow and exploding arrow for the skill synergy effect?
I found this 5 socket bow and don’t want to recycle it, I’d like to do something with it but don’t have the runes to make the Mist runeword
If it’s a Matriarchal Bow or Grand Matron Bow with +3 bow skills, then keep it.
If it’s a bow that has a low enough level requirement (~level 25) then use it for some cheesy 5 Tal bow for lots of poison damage for low level bowazons in the future.
Anything else is not worth holding onto, there isn’t a bow runeword that has 5 runes in it other than mist.
Onadroig thanks for the help. I’ll try adding to skills, and get rid of that bow. It sure isn’t a Matriarchal bow or a Grand Matron bow. It’s pretty low level and isn’t helping me. Thanks again for all the knowledge.
What level is your Character?
“Mist” needs level 67.
I m doing the same Quest (Hell, Act 2) and my level is below 50.
You can farm runes (e.g. Countess in Act1) and combine them, until you have
your desired one.
Maybe you have to wait with mist until inferno, be patient^^
