Question about "Baal grand charms"

Is any GC dropped by Diablo, Baal or Nihlathak guaranteed to be a “Baal” grand charm (ie with the capacity to get up to 45 life if you reroll it enough), or is that just an upper bound? In other words is it possible for those bosses to drop a grand charm that’s of a lower level?

Pretty sure its been verified those charms always have a chance to re-roll a 45 skiller.

Whether or not it can roll a sub 45 I’m not sure.

the roll calculation is based on Ilvl

and i believe those 3 are the only monsters of a high enough lvl to get the max possible roll

I looked up a few compilations (the “I rolled this charm 1000 times and here’s what I got” type), and according to those, it definitely can. In fact it looks like even if you do get a life roll, getting it in the highest bracket is rare.

The problem with that is that after a while it starts messing with your head. If you go hundreds of rolls without seeing that 41 life you start questioning whether it was a Baal charm to begin with or whether you accidentally swapped it out with a different one without realizing.

Yes baal and diablo GC are the only GC that can (but most of the time don’t) reroll with a maximum of 45 life. The iLvL of these GC is always high enough for it to occur.

Umm A Baal grand charm is a charm that comes directly from BAAL.

If the charm comes from Diablo or Nihthiak, then it’s not a BAAL Grand charm.

Thought that was obvious!

Well yeah terminology wise you are correct, the iLvL of said charms is what is important, not the name/boss that drops them.

That’s why I have a dedicated spot in my stash for those GC’s. Do NOT want to mix them up. Lol
And yes…Only grand charms dropped by Nihlathak, Baal and Diablo (Hell mode obviously) can roll over 40 life.

This conundrum would be easily solvable if Blizzard allowed loot filters that displayed iLvL. But I guess they are focusing on other stuff right now
