This may have been suggested before, but I’d like to bring it to the forefront once more. It’d be a cool QoL improvement to have a dedicated shortcut (button combo) to be able to automatically drink a looted potion, if possible. If my belt is full of better potions and my health is slightly lower and I see that crappy healing pot drop, I have to pick it up and then go to inventory to drink it. Then there are all those antidotes and thawing potions dropping that I’m sure nobody ever picks up. They could be a lot more useful if they could be automatically consumed on pickup.
As a side note to that, please implement potion timers on the main UI. Maybe even extend each individual potions effect too. The only potion that I know wears off without doing much today are the stamina ones. The others, I have to poke around in character sheet.
Hoping to maybe make those potions more useful in general. Right now, they are in the game but I have a feeling they are one of the most neglected elements. Doesn’t have to be though and could be a fun reason to actually visit Alkor for non-quest reasons.
Thoughts? Does anyone use those potions at all these days or just me?
Stamina is very important beginning gameplay. It’s main use after would be playing physical build where stamina drain takes place.
Thaw and antidote is self explanatory.
Only potion I don’t touch is poison. Throwing poison pots just don’t atttract me.
I play as a summoner from time to time. On a controller. Every button available is binded. I dont see the need to add additional buttons.
Every gameplay there are extra potions everywhere. Or Shrines to replenish. Having a small dip on health isn’t an issue to drink or not.
I think the best solution is having extra belt slots for you. I dont see the necessary need. Because there are items in game to neglect the potions.
You missed all of my points. I’m suggesting that they make antidotes, thaws, and stamina more interesting in the game. By your admission, you avoid some potions entirely. I have a feeling that most players do as well. I tend to use them sometimes, but I mostly play melee.
Also you wouldn’t be adding any new buttons, you’d just map something like a left-trigger plus A or X while picking up a potion to automatically drink it instead. It’s not binding any new buttons, but adding a function into the game that doesn’t exist today.
It would be awesome if there were timers as to when potions expire and that timer existed on the main UI. That alone might make the potions more attractive.
As it stands today, those potions are either useful very early in the game or never at all. Would be kinda nice if they got overhauled and actually played a better role than they do today.
I actually agree with both of you. From about mid-end nightmare I tend not to use the utility potions as with gear and progression, they lose their importance.
However, I do a lot of Larzuk runs and mainly run until ACT5 normal. I love the feeling of the initial playthroughs, getting sockets to farmed gear is awesome. Although I use shared (pre-farmed) gear I use a lot of potions obviously and potions management on console is a pain. It would be fantastic if we could just hold a button on a selected potion on ground and drink it straight away.
