QoL Request - (re)Integrate the Stat/Skill buttons back to the bottom UI

I’ve found it to be a common occurrence for these buttons to pop up right in the middle of a battle when leveling only to accidentally click on them, causing a moment of confusion/frustration with the surprise stat/skill screen pops up. Hasn’t gotten me killed yet, but it was close a couple of times. I’m sure those who play hardcore understand.

Blizzard: Please consider adding them back into the user interface as they were in the original game. Or at least give an option to do so.

An honorable mention would be to do the same for the Quest button! It’s also guilty of doing the same thing during questing.

Thank you.

I agree, same with the quest updates.

I agree especially since there’s easily room for it!

I’d also like the ‘close button’ added back to the bottom left of the inventory and skill tree windows.

Will very likely not happen, they won’t touch the UI (at least not artistically, but that would be needed here.) Maybe they have a few extra levels and whatnot lying around which they will eventually release. But I doubt they would make such a specific change, this would spawn dozens of similar requests. Art/UI design phase is long over.

Bah, as far as the graphics, a junior graphics designer could probably do the job in a half an hour. As far as coding, very minimal changes.

They could do it if there is strong enough demand to do so.

Its our job as players to provide feedback of things we like and don’t like, otherwise they don’t know what changes the game possibly needs.

Oh you are free to request anything you possibly want, VR support, whatnot, thats not my point my friend.

From the management perspective, such a change makes exactly zero sense as outlined. They have 100’s of tickets that are more pressing. And from an artistic standpoint even less so. I would take this change too, would be handy, but frankly I don’t care. Try to wish for more realistic features.

Oh and you are wrong that it would take half an hour. In Photoshop sure, but such a simple move of a button has consequences, they would need to hold meetings over it and whatnot. It is not THAT simple.

Well of course. Any decently ran company working on a project is going to have meetings… However they wouldn’t hold a special meeting just for this change possibility, it would be included on the agenda of many other potential topics for discussion/brainstorming for the game.

As far as implementation of this particular change, yes it really is simple. It would only apply for the modern overlay UI, which they have everything they need ready to go as far as source code, art assets, etc.

This could easily be done by simply elongating the modern UI to the equivalent length of the original UI to add back the spaces those buttons took in the original game. The same needs to be done with the quest button as it appears in the clickable areas of the screen upon every login if you have an unfinished quest. This is especially true for Act 1 and 3 quests.

I had mentioned this very issue in the functionality review I made after the end of the close and open beta periods just prior to the game’s launch.

Yeah I think that elongation is the “right” way to do it, and I’ve seen similar screen shots from the legacy game mods that elongated, so it’s definitely pretty straight forward.

That said I think even moving them to the empty space on either side of the current UI would still be an improvement if the “right” way was too expensive because it needed some minor tweaks to art assets, moving the buttons to currently empty space shouldn’t need any of that.

This is the feedback I left for D2R’s beta. Some of the issues were fixed (e.g. weapon swap binds not saving) but some still remain even to this day. Sorry for lack of embedded pics like I could do on the D3 side - I don’t have a manual TL3 here like I do for D3 and WoW.

Well splendid, we will have it in the next patch!
