And what keeps a speedrunner from starting his run so he gets his favourite TZs when he finished normal? Like you said, schedule for offline tz is already available. he could also just mess with his clock right now, as it is SP.
If you could set TZs in sp via command, you would have an even field and could decide what is allowed or which sequence is the TZ default for a comparable run.
I think it would have as many benefits as problems.
More than speedrunning issues, the issue would rather be in the coherence with the intent of TZ design : the goal of having TZs alternate is so that players donât burn out of playing the game by chaining the same area over and over ad nauseam.
The current design rather makes people just log off when there is a crappy zone, but in offline single player, people just use a mod or turn their computers time to the zone they want to play. So just make it a setting and allow people to choose which zone(s) should be active.
I would prefer to just turn on TZ for all areas at game creation if you tick the box. Offline and ONLINE. So they could adjust crappy TZ with increased density modifiers (x4-x6) etc.
All those guys saying âso easy SPâ!
Easy in what?
Players X? Itâs the same when you play with other people in multi. So you would like to play with 5 other people having relevant loot but for SP players only Players 1 is OK? Not even mention that playinâ in shared party is easy as hell - paladin auras for everyone, barb shouts for everyone, casters protected by tanks.
And⌠try to find all items you need on your own. There is no trading in SP. Need Dracul? Find Dracul. Need Enigma? Find all the runes. In multi again - piece of cake. ALWAYS you find something needed by someone that you can sell and buy what you need. All that perfect stats items to get - try to findâem in SP.
Iâm sick of the stories like âIâve just made my 10th Grief because the last roll was +397 and I want to have +400â. Come and try to do that in SP.
Easy in xping, easy in exploiting mapseeds/player count. Easy to farm stuff with static maps.
You donât need much gear to beat the game, if you then focus on optimal maps for your current goal like lower kurast farming, countess farming or short paths on any other TZ, SP provides a lot of ways to have an easy game.
Sure, you have to find all your items yourself. But since most of the items are runewords, you can easily farm them in kurast for example. Sure it takes some time, but itâs way easier than on battle net. You can also just set player count to 3 and farm with mid gear. You probably wonât find many people online that will play p3 and give you your preferred zones any time you âlog inâ.
Sure trading makes it easy online, but you have to farm stuff first. Unless you use d2jsp and fg.
When it comes to offline play, I honestly donât give a flying bleep about adding commands or controls to make offline play better. If you want control over Terror Zones offline, who am I to argue against that. Once you get a Map Seed you like, you can effectively keep it so keeping or adjusting Terror Zones, much like Players X, is perfectly fine in my book. Just so long as Players X doesnât come to ONLINE, I donât really care.
On another note, I would prefer that Terror Zones be an entire Act as opposed to a particular area. One hour its Act 2, another Act 5, but it would permit players to farm an area they can clear easily or farm the entire Act if they so choose. Less games that I have to make, the better as I see it.
i finally realized whatâs wrong with the suggestion and how i can see it implementing.
Terror zones are supposed to be random. The problem is that thereâs no true source of random in a standard PC. So they made it based on the system time.
Manipulating TZ is like manipulating random. Which is actually possible in D2(R) with -seed command line switch.
So I totally support implemeting a command line switch for TZ changing (similar to -seed command line switch). But not a chat command.
Mapseeds - OK, I agree.
Player count? - it would mean that every time you join a game or someone joins yours, itâs exploit - cause it changes monster stats/drop exactly in the same way like players x command in SP. People entering/exiting a game make it âdynamicâ in terms of difficulty/drop. Logically you should always play alone. If not, you exploit it too.
That just shows that having no arguments all you can do is ignoring people.
You have to be very cocksure claiming that solutions and decisions of D2 designers should be seen as âexploitâ.
No, Iâm not interested in your worth nothing opinions so happy to be in your ignorelist.
Bump. You can already manipulate everything else in single player offline mode so why not, its not like it cant be done already it will just make it less tedious
And speed running can instate rules such as âno locking terror zonesâ or âno terror zonesâ, etc. Theyâve done this for decades for hundreds of games. Your logic is flawed and you are a clown.
Edit the file of the path from the game client:âdata\data\hd\global\excel\desecratedzonesâ, and make it into a mod, you can design your own Terror Zones.
