PTR Feedback - Arctic Blast Synergy for Spirit Wolf

The development team has done a fantastic job with the changes outlined in the latest patch notes. I especially like the zoo druid, and the build is finally viable!

The only downside is the druid just sits back and completely watches his pets kill monsters. To make this build more interactive and fun to play, I urge the developers to consider adding a two-fold synergy between Arctic Blast and Spirit Wolves, whereby boosting the cold damage of both skills.

This change would allow the druid to stand behind his army of pets while casting Arctic Blast to help out in battle. Plus, the fantasy of the Druid conjuring up a chilling torrent of frost whereby making his spirit wolves stronger seems pretty cool. Thoughts?

We do not need that, besides summoner already don’t have enough point for such stupid more synergy crap.

Just change spirit wolf’s cold damage source into “converting x% from physical”

I was thinking of a zoo druid build with using Ravenlore and Frostwind while using maxed out arctic blast, wolves and bear. With a proposed synergy between arctic blast and spirit wolves further boosting cold damage of both skills this could work out nicely…

Ravens: 13 (+7 from Ravenlore)
Spirit Wolf: 20
Dire Wolf: 20
Grizzly: 20
Arctic Blast: 20 (+7-14 from Frostwind)
Oak Sage: 1
Heart of the Wolverine: 16
Total: 110

Something is needed so that this build can in some way participate in the battle without sinking masses of points.

Ravenlord focus on fire because it gives -fire resist. You wanting to use it on artic blest doesn’t make sense.

It still doesn’t change the fact that summoner druid required tons of points investment

It also not realistic to count 110 points as it mean you won’t finish your build until lv 99
Not to mention the +7 to 14 arctic blast from frosteind won’t even synergized spirit wolf even if they implement it.

Raven won’t start getting crazy damage increase until they are actually max as well.

Maybe learn how synergy actually works before making suggestions?

I’m just trying to make the subpar skill Arctic Blast viable as it hasn’t seen any serious use in two decades. If there is a better solution, I’m all ears. I just want to see a build that utilizes Arctic Blast as a main skill and thought a hybrid arctic blast/spirit wolf synergy could be a cool addition to the druid.

The reason it wasn’t used for decades was because the skill sucks and had bugs. It has to do with how the damage is done and mechanics.
Throwing a synergy link between him and spirit wolf won’t fix the issue, and simple shows that you don’t understand things, and have not actually think it thu before posting anything, just like half of the “suggestion” posts you’ve made here.

Can you not be a jerk, though, to someone who was just making a suggestion? Furthering discussion and increasing feedback is a good thing, regardless of whether or not you think the suggestion is good. Just say why it isn’t and what you’d personally do and move on.

Just because I said it in a blunt way doesn’t mean I am a jerk. Sometimes you do need some blunt word to make people think more deeply, especially in the world of participation trophy era.

There’s a fine line between giving out a reasonable feedback and throwing 10 random thought out within a day and see what sticks. If you look at CharlesJT’s post more than half are just done in a rapid past without much thought into it. Giving a suggestion should be detail and actually make sense, not just throwing out random things and expect other people to decode everything, and think for him.

You don’t have to be knowledgeable to give feedback and suggestions.

They probably prefer vague feedback that describes what the player wants than a lecture about the games current mechanics/bugs which they already probably know. The surveys are a good example of what they see as valuable feedback. They gave us an open ended question and a blank paragraph to fill in.

What they don’t know is what players actually want to do in the game, and this post is valuable feedback for that. Summoner playstyle is too passive. That’s his feedback. His solution doesn’t have to be perfect, because ultimately it’s up to the devs how to implement it.

There’so need to be so “blunt” … lol

To op, it would be nice if summoner druid had more active gameplay. AB is an underutilized skill, and I see your logic. I think it would be nice for ab to see some use and get the bugs worked out. :+1:

It’s kinda true though, inferno, Arctic blast and wake of inferno have terrible targeting mechanics and wind up time . The damage on wake of inferno is actually decent but people don’t like to use it because it works terribly on moving targets. The skill mechanics make it very frustrating to use even if it had good damage. I think if they increased the projectile speed it would help alleviate some of the skills issues. They need to fix how the skill functions first, people won’t want to use it if it’s not fun to use even if it had good damage.
