At the outset I must qualify my feedback by stating that I did not participate in the PTR and base my feedback purely on videos I have watched.
Overall it seems the proposed changes are healthy for character balance. My feedback follows below.
The power level of a skill should not be determined by hard points, but rather by skill level. For example, Bind Demon could require a skill level of 30 rather than 20 hard points to bind a super unique. I’m not aware of any other character’s skills that scale based on hard points rather than skill level, and thus it is a very un-D2 mechanic.
Only being able to wield a two handed weapon with a grimoire is overly restrictive. It would likely make one item (Mephisto grimoire) BiS for every warlock build. I propose that the ability to wield a two handed weapon in one hand be based on the skill level of Levitation Mastery. For example, at skill level 30. A player would then likely consider Mephisto, Spirit or Phoenix, depending on build.
Abyss is sub-par in PvM, but completely broken and thus banned in PvP. This skill should be re-balanced to make the magic build playable in PvP.
Blood Boil is also broken in PvP. This skill could perhaps be balanced by increasing the radius slightly, but reducing the damage.
Statues and sunders should only drop in terror zones. Sunders should only drop from heralds.
Heralds should not spawn on the player and their life should be reduced.
The ED/ damage bug should be fixed to make Protector’s Stone function as intended.

Agreed…

They are trying to curb power creep and make sure people use their new item.. not a fan but understandable.. they could have made it so shield effect is unlock-able at 20 skill points or so.. but we still run into the hard point dilemma.. since when did diablo start hard pointing things..

Sadly.. Pvp will never be balanced… at-least for me I gave up on that….
Warlock was mediocre in pvm.. but some swear it was godly.. it was Hammerdin.. so it needs nerf..
Blood Boil is also broken in PvP. This skill could perhaps be balanced by increasing the radius slightly, but reducing the damage.
Then the skill will suck in pvm… its like corpse explosion.. are we proposing nerfing that? because if u were dumb enough to be in the vicinity of a corpse pvp.. you are cooked..

Blizzard too lazy to fix… when i die my grandkids will request your request too..
Max resistance bonus from Paladin’s resistance auras
The PTR notes are complete garbage that no one with a brain is looking forward to. Rug pull that trivializes all newer content while nerfing the P2W character to the ground in ways that brick existing loadouts. It simply makes the game worse and adds nothing to look forward to. I hope whoever came up with these changes retires. They should be focusing on fixing decades old bugs along with the new ones they have introduced with this untested DLC, not melting so easily from being drenched with the tears of noobs and losers who hate everything that isn’t the meta from 20 years ago.

Please let us have conviction aura still on demons bound and do not nerf the fire skills in the chaos skill tree. The Warlock as a class deeply resonated with me and this nische power fantasy. Being able to bind a demon with conviction aura made me able to finally play through the game even on Hell difficulty with the skills and build I enjoyed the most playing. Even with that I was not able to break all fire immunities given my level back then and had to struggle my way of eventually getting a Flickering Flame to further elevate the damage my skills were dealing. I still don’t have high end gear and still can die occasionally on P1 (from those damn dolls). Overall not expecting the P8 experience to be “blazing through the game” without any difficulty what so ever.
I feel the voice and experience of casual players are heavily outweighed by those experts who can afford to play 8+ hours a day on players 8 online.
In summary the current nerfs could make the Fire Warlock very cumbersome to play without high end gear and would leave me with the feeling if I cannot invest my life into farming then joyful times would be less trivial to come by when playing.
Thank you.
I’m tired of warlock talks.
If next patch is solely focused on warlock I’d rage quit….for a week.
