With the new horadric cube recipes added in Patch 2.4, the developers should seriously consider adding a new recipe for adding one socket to a unique or set item, a recipe for adding one to two sockets to a rare or crafted item, and a recipe for adding one to three sockets to a magic item as follows:
1 Rare Ring + 1 Hel Rune + 1 Normal Skull + Rare/Crafted Item (non-socketed) = Rare/Crafted Item (1-2 sockets)
1 Magic Ring + 1 El Rune + 1 Chipped Skull + Magic Item (non-socketed) = Magic Item (1-3 sockets)
Furthermore, I thought it would be a nice feature if the developers added new recipes utilizing the Zod Rune for creating unique quivers for infinite quantity of arrows and bolts as follows:
Quiver of Arrows + Zod Rune = Quiver of Endless Arrows (infinite quantity)
Quiver of Bolts + Zod Rune = Quiver of Endless Bolts (infinite quantity)
Looks nice, finally these redundant Nagelrings/Manald Heals will find some use. Although Um rune might be a little too high, Lem should be okay.
Only as a temporary recipe till they remove needless ammunition micromanagement, and introduce normal/magic/rare/set/unique quivers - these will provide not only infinite quantity of arrows or bolts, but also so much needed affixes in that inventory slot.
I still want to see changes to this existing cube recipe:
6 Perfect Skulls + 1 Rare Item = 1 Rare Item of the same type
Changes:
Change the recipe to 3 Perfect Skulls + 1 Rare Item. This will allow more frequent rolls and allow rerolling 4x2 rare items (War Pike, Grand Matron Bow, etc)
Change the resulting ilvl to be the same as the ilvl of the original item. Currently the rerolling recipe is useless on weapons, as the resulting ilvl is too low to spawn with the mods needed to make the weapon useful
As it stands, the rerolling rares recipe is only usable on rare jewels, and even then itâs excessively expensive to do so.
I think youâre forgetting about rare diadems⊠Due to their high qlvl/magic level, they can indefinitely be rerolled with perfect skulls for high mods.
Well true, but itâs much more efficient to just gamble for those (Circlet, Coronet, Tiara, Diadem). Unless you actually care to get specifically a Diadem.
The recipe change is badly needed for other item types.
I agree with this. A Ko, Lem, or Fal would be sufficient enough. If higher cost than that, then it is more cost efficient to just run a normal holy fire paladin to Larzuk, or get a friend to rush to Larzuk. Maybe even have an Io Rune with Unique Amulet socket a rare item.
A rune downgrade cube recipe maybe? 1:1 of course.
Get rid of the gem requirements for upgrading, instead use the gem requirements for downgrading.
It would give the runes back their value according to their rarity⊠If you find a Zod, you can downgrade it to whatever rune you need. Plus it would help slightly with getting the right runes that you need for whatever runeword.
I think adding a socket to uniques and sets with a recipe is a good idea but to me âUmâ is a bit too high. On the other hand, the recipe to socket a rare calls for an soj so I think that recipe should be reevaluated as well. All in all I like your idea.
While Iâm not exactly sold on the zod to make infinite quiver idea, I think opening up cube recipes for socketing items in the rare/unique/set has been on the right track, in terms of utilizing those lower mid-runes. I think the SoJ one is mostly a Classic thing, and was never updated to fit LoD.
Your quiver ones sound ok for use on regular arrow attacks, but donât think that theyâd work as well as you are probably thinking, since things like firing Magic Arrows with Witchwild (and other bows) donât stack with actual skills (like Freezing Arrow). Itâd be mostly for use in leveling or for certain niche non-zon builds that use bows.
As for the scroll stuff, if they are going to build more space than we have already with the cube, then a charms inventory is a better overall solution than exacerbating a more tedious work-around that players use. However, getting the Horadric Scroll each difficulty could open up an in game recipe list for the cube; collect all three to see all the cube recipes in game. Gives the scroll a quality of life purpose, and fits with something the community has been asking for since reveal.
Lesser Socketing: El + Magic Jewel + Skull + Item â adds 2 sockets to a magic items, 1 socket to a rare items.
Greater Socketing: El + Rare Jewel + Perfect Skull + Item â adds 4 sockets to magic, 2 to rare and crafted, 1 to set and unique item.
Unique items are not the only ones that need a renewable way to socket them. And since magic and rare items are generally worse than uniques, they should get more sockets. The trashier your gear is, the more you can customize it with sockets.
Excellent ideas! I would prefer magic quiver drops like D3 that give some bonuses and endless arrows in that slot, but this would be a viable alternative. More recipes and more stash space are my two biggest wish list items and Iâd even pay an expansion fee if they built some other additions on these!
It would be awesome to have a cube recipe like âZod+eth itemâ to give the item Indestructible mod, while maintaining possibility to socket it with something else than Zod. On the other hand recipe should be less costly than Zod rune. Like Gul±.
