Problem with Ilvl

I am really really pleased with diablo2:ressurected, and the constant work of all the devs team working on d2. They clearly worked day and night to fix the few issues, some bigger, some minor.

with that being said, i am surprised that there is no way to see the ilvls of my items. It would be extremely useful to craft, since id gamble an amulet, and the only way to be sure, is to be lvl93 which i am not.

Another point, which will obviously come up later on, is the 20 maximum character limit. I would imagine that problem come from servers, but it cannot entirely be d2 with character limits. I usually play everywhere( xpack soft core and hardcore, and classic softcore and hardcore). so with those 4 cores, i have a maximum of 5 character per core including mules.

edit: Plus imagine when ladder comes out. and i play 4 cores? its going to break things up.

Looking forwards your answers.

I imagine ilvl may be added in later. There is a demand for it.

omg an actual QoL suggestion instead of trying to restructure the mechanics of the game from the ground up. Commendable sir. Commendable.

Lol, item level in D2?
This post is twenty characters long.

Could you explain this part here?

Archon Armor is an Elite Armor. It’s quality level is 84.

What exactly do you want to see on the armor past that for crafting or do you mean like “This is the overall strength of the item with the runeword attached”

A lot of items have variable worth and they can be incredibly strong or worthless depending on builds and situations. It’s hard to put a value on a stat in a game that is so static like Diablo2 when it comes to breakpoints.

Just trying to understand this perspective for the sake of my curiosity.

The ilvl of items changes depending on where it was dropped and what difficulty. Also gambling items changes ilvl by like +/- 5 your clvl.

It has been suggested many times. I have seen few people outright against it, most seem to think it will clutter ui too much. That would easily be addressed by having it as an option to disable.

The ilvl of things is very important for crafting.

Let’s say you have a crystal sword. Common base for spirit. This sword can get anywhere from 3-6 sockets max depending on where you found it. If you got it from cows its around ilvl 28, so always 4 sockets. If you found it in late nightmare or hell its going to get 6 sockets from larzuk.

Then there is the ilvl for crafting magical items. A magical property cannot be rolled on an item if the ilvl is too low for the property. If you are trying to roll something like 1 skills 45 life grand charm, you need one dropped from baal. Otherwise it will never happen because Vita requires ilvl 91. Now lets say you have a few grand charms you want to roll but you are not sure where each one dropped. With ilvl hidden you could potentially waste countless resources trying to roll something that is not possible in the first place.

Edit:

https://diablo-archive.fandom.com/wiki/Charms_(Diablo_II)

There is a list of charm properties on that page, showing what properties can be rolled and what ilvl they require. Being able to see ilvl of an item instead of having to keep track of where it dropped from would be very nice.

It could even increase the value of some charms that look bad at first glance. An ilvl 99 grand charm that dropped from baal would be worth more because of it’s ilvl, even if the properties on it are garbage.

Oh so like when you imbue the circlet at Charsi you want to actually see what the end result level gave you. Like if you rolled an 83+5 or not.

item name | Level 18| Level 30 | Level 49 | Level 99
Circlet | 8-20 | 33 | 36-39 | 83-99

Is that beneficial?

This I think would be nice since you can’t really trust some white items if you dont know where they were found

It’s actually really REALLY important for crafting. No way to get +2 skills on crafted amulets unless it’s a certain ilvl.

You are preaching to the quire. This is extremely in demand. I mean really hot. I just can’t see the devs ignoring this request. Everyone I spoke to wants this in the game.

Yeah, I thought this was going to be added in D2R but when I looked for the source I couldn’t find any. Must have been a reddit post.

Larzuk put 6 sockets in my Bec de Corbin tonight. The cube rolled 6 sockets in my other Bec de Corbin tonight.

Obedience does not approve.

Those are actually affix levels. The affix level is determined by a formula using the item level and the quality level. it is explained on this page: http://classic.battle.net/diablo2exp/items/crafteditems.shtml

As far as I know this formula is used for magic/rare items as well as crafted items, even though the arreat summit says otherwise.

gambled magic item goes as follows: ilvl=clvl-5+(rdm10)

which basically means the ilvl will be your character level -5 or +5(its randomly generated)

so if i am lvl91 gambling on magic amulets, some amulet might be ilvl96, while others could be ilvl86.

Then, from a ilvl86 magic ammy, using caster formula, from what i remember, you cannot get a +2 20fcr crafted amy.

while rolling with a ilvl95 ammy on a clvl91 could potentionally give me such results.

Another reason, Putting a ilvl99 grand charm that isn’t good, with 3 perfect gems(of any kind) in the cube, you can get some +1 skill tree with 45 life grand charms. From what i remember again, only the GC from diablo(ilvl94) and baal(ilvl99) can get 45lifers.

so Baal GC could have a trade value if everybody could see it. since rerolling these have the possibility of great results compared to another GC from a random minion.

In order to not confuse newbies just make a toggle in GUI options that is default off.

yes makes sense, that way we could all simply activate it when we’re up to it

It would be nice, as long as these additions don’t make the game ugly like those mods I’ve seen people play on Twitch.

i really cant see how just adding a UI to enable ILVL would make things ugly.
