The best way to farm runes with Countess is /players 1 and no magic find, in order to have up to 3 failed equippable drop (you can get up to 3 runes from Countess).
Magic find still do hinder your runes run as in it will slower your clearing speed and thus getting less runes in the same time.
If youāre farming runes from Cows a higher /players X may instead increase the number of runes.
No offenceā¦but who in their right mind would farm the countess for runes above Ist? Donāt cherry pick an exception not even worth mentioning.
We are not talking about rune farming in offline single player. And the higher the number the players in the game, the higher the chances for Rune groups to be picked from loot tables.
Doesnāt Countess drop up to Lo as a monster drop? Although Ist (or Gul?) is still the most Iāve ever gotten from her.
I was cherry picking because in this game Iāve many times specialised in a thing and run that over and over and over. A lot of min-max, efficiency tuning, etc.
Did I say she doesnāt? Itās just inefficient. We are talking about rune farming in a fast and efficient way in high density areas. Kill lots of mobsā¦fastā¦in high player count games. MF has no impact whatsoever.
To farm the countess in order to get Lo is a very inefficient strategy. Thatās all, and good luck with her in order to get your Vex, Ohm and Lo.
Yeah itās probably inefficient, certainly less than farming cows or even lv 85 areas. But if weāre talking about efficiency I think magic find can slow you down unless it comes from good gear, like Harlequin Crest or Enigma etc.

We are talking about an endgame activity with mostly BiS, and we are talking about the impact of MF on the drop chances of a certain mob to pick from the loot tables Rune Groups. Not about the impact of MF on the clearing speed. We are starting from the premise that the HR hunting is done with good enough gear.
It is certainly odd, but Iāve found a Gul on my second or third Crypt run and a Stone of Jordan on one of my first magic find runs from Andariel Nightmare.
Then nothing for a lot of time, thatās RNG for you.

My dude, please google a little bit about D2 monster and area levels. Each area in the game has a ālevelā assigned to it, and that level dictates what ālevelā the openables, breakables, and monsters have. i.e. āThe River of Flameā on Hell difficulty is area level 85. The base monsters within it and breakables are level 85. The champs there are level 87 and the uniques are level 88. These levels affect Treasure class access and item Quality level access. Items in the game are located in treasures classes and uniques and sets frequently have separate Q levels. What can drop in different locations and from different monsters is a fairly complex matter that cannot really be articulated in a single paragraph. Thereās a wiki easily searchable, although based on your comments here, I find the utility of its existence to be a dubious proposition for you.

I was going to say, of all the places to have rune luck, just do Hell Cows.
This is only true if the monster is a champion/unique/superunique as those can drop at a +1 tier TC vs. the rest of that areaās mobs. Otherwise, from normal mobs Sacred Armor can only drop in aLV 85 zones.
Iāve seen white sacred armors drop from normal cows in hell difficulty, area level 81.

Areas dont have any level
Levels.txt has no arealevel column
It has three MonLvlEx columns, one for each difficulty
Those columns dictates monster lvl within the area
There are columns for density too
Wikis use the term āarea levelā bc its easier to explain but not technically right
