I’m trying to decide if my necro is better off with trang shield/belt or a shield like boneflame/homunculus with arachnid mesh.
My question is how much lower resist do i need to break immune monsters? The gear i have with lower poison resist are…
-48 deaths web with +5/-5 facet making -53 total
trang shield give me -25
lower resist is -60
Total -138
without the trang shield its 113, is that enough to break the breakable immunities in the game? I could always facet the shield for an extra -5 so -118 is possible. I could maybe add a few more points into lower resist and get it to -62 if -120 is a breakpoint.
Ill probably test breaking some immunities without the shield equiped when i get home but i figured id ask anyways.
Breaking immunities is not from gear that will only happen from Lower Resist curse. Once you break the immunity from the curse, that’s when the gear -resist starts working.
The calculation you listed works for non-immune monsters. For immune, you break the immunity with the -60 LR, the you have a monster that has 99 resists. At that point your deaths web and Trang items start working.
If you can’t break the immunity with LR, you need to CE it or let your merc kill it.
LR works at 20% effectiveness against immune monsters. -60 LR lowers an immune monsters resistance by -12. This breaks the immunity of a monster with 110 resistance. If it has 120, you will not break its immunity.
Oh, so its just the curse that breaks the immunities? So i can probably ditch the trang shield and still break the same immunities i break now?
Thats cool i guess i might kill them slightly slower but they already die so fast i probably wouldnt notice and i will do more damage with the + skills which might counter balance that and have better survivability with extra resist all.
I thought i read somewhere that 120 immune monsters are unbreakable but maybe thats for other elements and poison is stuck at 110 since infinity doesn’t work with posion? Some monsters are 115 is there a way to break them? or is 110 the max you can lower poison immune monsters?
Someone made a 1-hit kill psn nec in p8 cows. He used the Trang combo. It’s better for sure if we are talking anything p3 or lower, since you don’t even need to cast LR. NN to cast LR = faster cleartime (if you are using enigma ofc)
There are monsters at 110, 115, 120, 130, 145, 1000 resistance. LR can only drop it by 12. Thus if you take the monster at 110 - 12 = 98 resists. You can break the 110 resists monster immunity but nothing higher than that.
Breaking the immunity now gives you a monster that is 98% resistant to Poison. At this point your Death’s Web and Trangs kicks in. So with your kit, the deaths web leaves a mosnter 50% resistant to poison, then Trangs belt drops it to 25% resistant. Add facets in as you will. This is for immunities that you break.
Most monsters are not immune they have between 0-80 resistance. If you take a monster that has 0 immunity you can max out your benefit with just LR and Deaths web as you can only go to -100 resistances. In that case trangs belt and facets are not used.
Thus at some point you can have the debate with yourself on if the benefits of trangs belt are worth it. Both Trangs belt and Homu give +2 to the poison and bone line. Homu gives you extra to your curses which will help get a percentage or two out of LR. Blocking and resistances are better on Homu.
The one item I find interesting is Bramble vs Enigma. Bramble adds damage more than enigma, adding roughly 1K more DPS at high levels. For this you lose telly.

I use TRI Trangoul, bramble.
I don’t have dweb yet. I have one PSN facet but wait for loot a perfect magic circlet.
I will use fcr rings and a craft amu.
I want to trial if worth big PSN dmg without Enigma if i goes faster to clear aeras.
necro-ing this post…
is there a break point or some math i can do to find if using TR belt + wing is better than arachnid’s mesh and bone flame? using DWeb and bramble.
Going to try it later fighting baal to see if it’s any faster. just robbed all my NL chars for the first time and have most of the goodies all together that i drool over on ladder filled the inventory space with 8 pnbgcs torch, anni. 47% bramble a -44 DW with a 4-4 facet
basically is -25 psn resist > +2 skills
lvl 41 nova , lvl 13 lower resist (-25 psn res)
vs
lvl 43 nova, lvl 17 lower resist (-0 psn res)
3-piece Trangs > Spider + Boneflame due to Trang Off-hand yielding -25 Poison Resistance. With Shako, Bramble, Dweb, Maras, dual SOJ and Torch/Anni, the extra 4 skill levels from Spider/Boneflame results in 12.5k - 12.9k Poison Nova compared to 10.6k-11k without it. That’s a difference of ~2k Poison Damage but the -25 Poison Resistance on Trangs pierces Sundered Enemies and PvP Resistance. You can only achieve -65 Resistance with Spider/Boneflame but 3-piece Trangs achieves -90 Resistance. If you rolled full Trangs, your Poison Nova drops to 9.9k - 10.2k but you’d gain an additional -5% Poison Resistance and other defensive quirks(walk as fast as you run resulting in no defense/block drop). Cast frames suck balls, ditto lack of Teleport or Thorns but it largely depends on how you intend to use it.
Difference on Lower Resist makes little to no difference(61 with Trangs vs. 62 with Spider/Boneflame).
