Point of skulls and gems when you can get runes?

Are gems and skulls just good to sell because I’m guessing runes is what the best gear comes from?

There are crafting recipes that use gems/skulls for example combining runes I think starting with thul requires gems. Topaz/diamond are a cheap source of magic find/resistance and skulls can provide dual leech for you or your mercenary. They can be pretty useful but you’re right the runes are better, but they are also more rare and valuable.

skuills are an easy source of health/mana recovery for me when i don’t have the runes for what I really want.

are you being dense on purpose?

gems are freakin great at low levels. also used for crafted items (hit power, safety, blood, and caster).
then the rune ipgrades
cube recipes, such as - you used all 3 Larzuk sockets, so you gotta do the socket recipe.

all this crap is available on the Arreat Summit site, go gain some knowledge instead of being disgustingly ignorant.

Gems are end game crafting mats, usually used for caster amulets, blood gloves and rerolling GCs. Most ppl buy them in bulk, like 40 for a pul rune or something.

OP asked a genuinely legit question and you immediately bashed him.

Not everyone is gonna be as involved in this ecosystem as you are and not everyone will invest that amount of time.

Console is already in an unfortunate situation /lobby, chat, aiming without kbm support etc/, at least show some support towards your fellow gamer…

You can also use perfect gems to re roll grand charms (or other charms) with new stats. People do this to try to craft grand charms with +1 to different skill trees. Mostly they are grand charms that fall off hell Baal as they offer the greatest chance for a skiller that could also spawn with additional mods such a +40 life.

I use chippies for gold purposes. 3 chip gems (same type) + magical staff/wand/scepter= rerolled magical staff/wand/scepter with sockets (when transmuted in cube). I have a char parked at level 21 waiting on gold to gamble circlets.

Also, some gear has charges on it for all kinds of different skills. You can use gems to recharge them in the cube. This is useful bc some of items cost an astronomical amount of gold to repair/recharge from vendors.

Please post the links to the cube guide and rune words for those who don’t know about those resources - - I have the old battlechest guide but new players won’t even know what re-rolling is, how to make rune items, ETC ETC ETC

You know full and well the game doesn’t explain it so hating on people that don’t get the crafting aspect is pretty dense on your part and will certainly keep you out of my parties :shushing_face:

You turn a magic wand that isnt worth much at vendor into something that sells for 35k. Rerolling the affixes also rerolls the staff mods
